Nice deal. I know there is a recommendation that you should have both ionization and photoelectric sensors, but I also saw that since CO is present in all fires, that this is a good all around solution. Does anyone have any thoughts?

This is a great unit to purchase if you have children. They listen to the alarm and pay attention. Very loud and clear message when sounding off. Clearly a great buy.

I read on line it is recommended to replace Smoke Alarms every 7-10 years. Been in my house for 10 so the time is right. With this unit I get both CO and Smoke alarm.

Kidde is the best brand in the business, and they are all UL tested (unlike some brands that do not send them to UL to get the verification). I guess I trust them more than anyone else's units. My house had an off brand, and I am switching them all out for these models.

Having a Carbon Monoxide is alarm is so important. Any fuel burning appliance or motor will give off CO. I've read too many sad stories of people leaving a car running in their attached garage, furnace/water heater malfunction, using a generator or grill indoors, etc... Well worth the $20, protect yourself and your family!! I bought 2.

Perfect timing, thanks. We just bought a house and the hallway smoke detector is at least 20 years old. The thing looks like it's straight out of the 70s. It does still work (the home inspector tested it and we re-tested it with some burning bacon
 but I daresay it is time for a new one!

This is not hard-wired. If you are replacing a hard-wired unit, this may not be what you want.

Great deal on a combination detector. I usually pay $20 for carbon monoxide detector alone. this one has both and talks. Great find.

This is the BF for smoke alarms apparently? As many have said grab a few of these. Should change every 5 or 10 yrs?
Also should grab a few photoelectric. I was sold when i saw the high level of smoke with no alarm at neighbor. Fire in wall of chimney of fireplace. Fireplace was out hours before bed. He happened to wake 3am called me as he got fam out and to my place. high level of smoke two floors and a handful of new wired alarms didnt trigger. Recent remodel but used only ionization. Not too much damage really perhaps 8000 but huge amount of smoke. This seems like an awful idea. CO tends to collect at the floor level, and smoke tends to rise. You'll either be dead of asphyxiation before the CO alarm goes off if you mount it on the ceiling, or you'll be a crispy critter before the smoke alarm warns of of fire if you put it near the floor. Or is there something these do that detects at a distance?
