Just got my alienware laptop..... Sound card was broken and it was integrated so they have to replace the motherboard. A tech is coming in today to do it... ugh

i looked at my written invoice and i noticed that i am getting charged about $120 for services (support) that i do not feel i need or want. is this built into the system or may i decline it and ask them to remove the charges?
also, i have not received my computer yet, but someone from dell called me. after some discussion, she did state that she would provide me a discount for my computer. i have not received electronic or written confirmation of this discount. is it still ok to accept the delivery even if this has not been done yet? she said she would call me back, but it's been a few days.... |

 Edit: no offers for a tech to come fix it, if that's even possible?! No idea -- im a laptop noob. Hopefully the next one will be flawless. If not, I'd rather just return it at this point and not deal with the headache. Last edited by silliechu; 10-16-2012 at 05:40 PM.. |

Just got my laptop today. 17r SE. It came with a ssd 32gb + 1 tb hard drive, but I was shocked to see that the OS is on the 1tb. The ssd drive isn't even active/initialized! Is this normal from Dell?

I think you have to do a fresh install if you want the OS on the 32GB SSD, i googled this and theres a thread on notebookreview.com on the SE's, the intention of the 32gb from dell was to handle extra stuff, i forget the reasoning, but its explained in that thread. http://forum.notebookreview.com/d...-a-57.html |

Also, are 'certified refurbished' supposed to have little nicks here and there? There's a few smudge marks around the laptop and a few nicks. All the other laptops/desktops I've ordered from dell outlet that were certified refurbished always came as if they were new, so I was a bit surprised with this as well. If this is normal, how bad can scratch and dent get?

All my S&D's (dozens), which are all I ever buy, have been the Same as Brand New, except for the sticker on the bottom, of course. Never a Dent or a Scratch & I'm very fussy.
