Thread Details

Hi Guys,

I am looking for one of those self storage units where they deliver it, you pack it with stuff, they pick it up and hold it until you need it, then they deliver it somewhere else for you.

The problem is, every single one of these companies (and there are a lot of them) want me to fill out extensive information for a quote, so a sales rep can contact me. No thanks.

Does anyone know of a consumer reports type site or article which simply lists out the pros & cons of each company as well as some type of transparent pricing grid so I can easily make a decision about which is best for me? Google found nothing. Thanks a lot.

I don't know of any real comparison, but the best browsing website for this type of thing that I've seen is: http://www.usstoragesearch.com/mo...orage.aspx you enter your zip code under mobile storage and they give you options that are in your immediate area.

I recently moved about 600 miles from my hometown to a different state. I initially narrowed my search to Packrat, PODS, & United Mayflower (Formerly SAMS). I eliminated ABF U-pack because all they have is a piddley little 8'x8' storage unit. I moved my house and garage so I needed much more storage volume than that. For me the best value was (2) United Mayflower 8'Wx16'Lx8.5'T self-pack containers. My containers are currently being stored in a warehouse untill I close on my new house in a couple months. Then I'll have them delivered and unload at my own pace.

I found United Mayflower the best value for me. You'll have to break down and call to get quotes that realistically meet your situation. The three I mentioned above were fine to deal with while was getting comparitive quotes. I did get a couple follow up calls from each, but they weren't blowing up my phone afterwards constantly soliciting me.
