It's definitely an E530, but without a numeric keypad. On the bottom, it's got product ID 3259-XB9.

3259 is definitely a variant of the E530 that's listed on their support pages.

So what did I get / lose by receiving an E530 over an E520? I don't think the E520 has USB 3.0, so that's a nice addition.

Also, I already had a problem using the lenovo driver updates. One of the drivers said it was installing an older file than was on the computer. I stupidly said yes and then I was getting some windows errors once I booted back up. Making a system restore DVD now. Hopefully, that'll put me back to factory setup. No big deal if that works, all I had really done was install some windows updates.

EDIT: Actually, maybe I'm not that stupid. Lots of people with the problem here. Haven't done the system restore yet, so will try the solution there first.

EDIT 2: Looks like I am ok after I deleted the audio device and rebooted. I get no errors and the version # of the audio driver is the same as the most recent on lenovo.com. I'll chalk this up to some lenovo screwup rather than something mis-matched with the laptop.

520 has USB, if the processor is i7. i3/i5 only have usb 2.0
530 support usb 3.0 natively.

Refurbished 10/5/12 from 3259-AD9. There is no 3259-AD9 in the document you pointed me to. All of the 3259s that have a 1x1 WLAN card w/BT have a numpad. The specs match none of the models listed.

Having looked around while I was waiting for it to come and not seeing any E520s with 3rd gen i5, I was kind of expecting it to be an E530.

Do you mean that they dumped E530 components into an E530 shell? Clearly it's got E530 components. The tag on the display bezel does also say E530.

Many Lenovo units were transitioned to the 2012 models ( X30 ) before Ivy was released. Therefore early models were released with Sandy.
It's a Sandy based E530.
