Hmmm... People don't seem to like that this doesn't come with the 2gb ram.

But being this cheap and all compared to when others bought it may be a good reason to not listen to their reviews though.

Current games generally don't mind having only 1 gb at lower resolutions. However, some do take advantage of the extra ram already and Tom's suggest going for 2. This price cut may be to combat the 650ti a little more perhaps?

That might be the case, but I don't really see how the two cards are comparable. The 7850 1gb beats the 650ti in every test in that article.

running under 1080p and if you can squeeze money to pump out to the next tier (from let's say $100-120 to this XFX 7850 here), then it's totally worth it

1GB vs 2GB performance difference should be minimal except at very high resolutions (e.g. 2650x1600) where the texture *may* saturate the VRAM. It should be no problem for 1920x1200 or lower.

I was eyeing the 7850 2gb version for when/if i upgrade my monitor. Don't know if I would want this one...

This card BLOWS AWAY anything in this price range and is about $20 + a free game cheaper than you can find it anywhere else.

So newegg says this needs a 500 watt PSU, is that true? 3D mark says it has a 130tdp. [futuremark.com]. Seems like you should be able to get away with a smaller psu right? I have a 380 watt from the from the antec htpc type case over the summer. Is it enough to power one of these cards and a sandy or ivy bridge cpu and a matx mobo? Also does anyone know if the heat is super high on these cards. I am between one of these or a 7770 which hasn't seemed to go on sale for <$100 lately.

Any input is appreciated. Id plan on playing some games with this obviously but not anything crazy. I just want to know if it would be feasible to have this card in that antec case I linked. Or if I should stick to looking for a 7770.

This time 1 year ago, Tom's Hardware pretty much dispelled the idea that 2GB was needed: http://www.tomshardware.com/revie...41-18.html

However, since then BF3, Crysis 2, and Guild Wars 2 have entered benchmark suites. So I'm not so certain about that 1GB vs. 2GB thing now, but at least it's nearly right. This deal sounds pretty ridiculously fantastic in my opinion.
