I used to buy these but I switched over to just getting 2 Lb bags at my Costco for roughly $10. It's not as cheap as this, but I was having trouble going through 3 12-Oz bags in ~2 months that it takes for these bags to expire (they might vary though).

If you don't mind the lack of freshness as you are hitting the last bag this is a good price for coffee, but the flavor also wasn't all that great. For a few bucks more you can just go for better freshness and taste IMO.

are the costco ones equally good? Which costco bean did you get?

Everyone has their one preference, but I actually found I enjoyed the Guatemala beans a lot and they were only $9 for a 2 lb bag at my Costco, this lasts me a good 2 months (which is still pushing it for coffee).

The diehard coffee fans like my roommate buy Intelligentsia in small bags so you can get the real freshness by the week, but I'm not that crazy (those bags are like $15-20 a pop too).

Get a Behmor 1600 from Sweet Maria's. You'll never have to worry about stale coffee again! Buying their sampler in bulk, I was able to get $5.50 a lb for pre-roasted beans.

We've tried this coffee twice. Didn't really care for it. We like the 8 O' Clock Columbian bean for now -- our taste changes often and were too cheap for the expensive beans.

True, There is an up front cost. It's more like $260 since they give you an eight pound sampler with it. I think the life on it is 1,000 cycles, so $.26 a pound in extra cost is not bad.

In the end it's all about preference, you like what you like. I just think a lot of people are misinformed on coffee. It goes "stale" fourteen days after it's roasted no matter how you pack it. With this machine you have fresh coffee all the time.
