I spent a couple of hours this morning looking for a cheap wireless replacement for my old D-Link DCS-900 network camera. I had settled on the Foscam and glad I saw this because I was going to pay about the same or more for the older version. Yes, I have this mounted in my baby's room. It comes with the mounting stuff you need.

As far as leaving it outside. This is not an outdoor camera and is not waterproof. I don't know how it would handle extreme humidity or extreme temperatures. I have read of people who have used this outdoors successfully under an "eave" to protect it from water.

lol....you mean, who besides the garbage men who crush it and put it in a landfill right.... Sounds like a real travesty that someone would find a second use for what you cast off. Be sure to use the cam to catch the look on the cops face when you show the offender absconding with your trash.

I use Foscam Viewer Lite. It works very well. The controls could be better but for a free app, what do you expect?

Yes. It comes with a bracket and screws so you can mount it. Even though it's wireless, you need to plug this in to an electrical outlet.

I would not recommend anyone to mount this outdoor, the humidity alone will destroy the unit in a short period of time.

Ha no. I mean bags I put out disappear before the trash man comes. I put them out at night and jog in the morning. Sometime between when I put them out and I go for a jog a few are always missing. I just want to know who it is. I dont care what they do with it.

I've heard that using infrared (IR) cameras for babies is not good for their eyes. I have seen this model in the dark and the IR lights have a red glow to them which will cause a baby to stare at it. I think baby monitors have weaker IR that do not have a red glow so the baby won't stare at it. Anyway, I was told I can't use this camera as a night time baby monitor.

The problem I have with this camera is that it resets itself about every 10 minutes when watching continuously. The video simply stops and then starts up again after about 30 seconds. I'd like to exchange it, but Home Depot doesn't carry it in store, so I'll probably have to order another one and return the defective camera with the new receipt in store.

Does anyone know more on the IR issue for baby cams?
