Comcast Xfinity Performance Internet 19.99 per month for 12 months with 1 year contract ends 10/21/12 New Customers Only YMMV

My promotion period has already expired and now paying $42 per month. So do you just basically tell them that you're terminating your existing service and make another call to have another member of your household to avail of the $19.99 promotion

Does this require Cable TV subscription? Can you just subscribe to the internet only? In the past I've seen this deal before but it always required TV subscription too.

I received a mailer for Comcast Xfinity Performance Internet 19.99 per month for 12 months with 1 year contract or Blast Plus for $49.99 per month for 6 months ends 10/21/12. The only thing I saw here is one ending in 9/23. It might just be NE area, but I called 1-877-397-9782 and I got in . Of course they try to sell you the world (bundles, etc). I declined even the self-install kit (paying for shipping for cables and splitter), and told them I purchased my own DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Motorola SB6121 Staples ~$54.99 with PM (Amazon and coupon) plus cost of coupon. I attached the letter so you can read the rest.

On a side note, I HATE how arrogant Verizon Reps are when I called to make sure I'm no longer in a contract. This reps even refers to himself as Mr. ____. I should have given my name as such Mr. Wynn, lol Here's what came out of his mouth:

1. He KNOWS all about the Comcast promos and there is NO $19.99 Internet
2. FIOS is dedicated speed, Comcast shared with neighborhood
3. FIOS has unlimited download, Comcast has cap limitation
4. I won't be paying only $19.99. Uh hello, don't they charge tax and FCC fees as well? They even increased their rental cost of $2 each.
5. He's sorry that I'm downgrading my service

Make sure there is a promotion for new customers. And there will be some down time depending on their/your efficiency.

Call and tell them you need to terminate your account. They will ask for your reason to terminate. Moving usually gets the job done. You will need to return their equipment if you are using theirs. Get your new equipment before you try this to minimize downtime. Call them up after a few days to setup new account. Use another name and number to call.

Wynn, when they pull that, you tell him your first name is sir and your last name is yes sir and that he will address you as such.

Nah. It's easiest to just go down to your local service center with your modem and tell them you want to shut off your internet services effective immediately. If you're in a contract just tell them you're moving to a non Comcast town and they will remove the ETF rate. Tell them you'd like to close the account today and will pay what you owe. They will close your account. Go back home and call 1.800.comcast and put it in your wife's name. She's a new customer and the phone reps are paid for selling you services so will be hungry to set you back up. If you do not have a significant other you will have to wait a day or two while your account closes in the system and then just call the 1.800 line. It helps to call between 8 am-9pm by the way as this is when you will usually get local reps who have these offers. If you call outside of local hours you get national reps who do not have local offers.



Not legal? Says who? You are a new customer and have never heard of the old customer. You have separate information. Actually per their terms and conditions you are a new customer if you have not had service in 120 days. I know people who call back after six months and cancel and their spouse signs up as a new customer and then they repeat every six months.

Says comcast. Describe your scenario(bold part) to comcast sales rep and seek his reply. Been there done that.
To them, a household is a customer. Of course, you can hide the info that your spouse isn't your spouse.
