I received a mailer for Comcast Xfinity Performance Internet 19.99 per month for 12 months with 1 year contract or Blast Plus for $49.99 per month for 6 months ends 10/21/12. The only thing I saw here is one ending in 9/23. It might just be NE area, but I called 1-877-397-9782 and I got in woot. Of course they try to sell you the world (bundles, etc). I declined even the self-install kit (paying for shipping for cables and splitter), and told them I purchased my own DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Motorola SB6121 Staples ~$54.99 with PM (Amazon and coupon) plus cost of coupon. I attached the letter so you can read the rest.

On a side note, I HATE how arrogant Verizon Reps are when I called to make sure I'm no longer in a contract. This reps even refers to himself as Mr. ____. I should have given my name as such Mr. Wynn, lol Here's what came out of his mouth:

1. He KNOWS all about the Comcast promos and there is NO $19.99 Internet
2. FIOS is dedicated speed, Comcast shared with neighborhood
3. FIOS has unlimited download, Comcast has cap limitation
4. I won't be paying only $19.99. Uh hello, don't they charge tax and FCC fees as well? They even increased their rental cost of $2 each.
5. He's sorry that I'm downgrading my service

Well, I said "thank you, good bye" and hanged up before he finished whatever he wanted to say.

I am definitely going to try this though. I've got a 14.99 for a year for 3 Mbps. I don't feel much slowdown cuz my major devices are wired and WiFi works fine too as I don't download much. But if this flies, it'd be awesome and I am okay with a contract.

I signed up for this same deal 6 months ago. I got my bill a couple weeks ago and noticed the priced jumped to $44.99/month. I called and they said the deal I signed up for was only 6 months. I know when I spoke to them during signup they lady confirmed it was 12 months. I have no way to prove that.

I hate Comcast. I wish there was an alternative besides AT&T's slow DSL.

Thanks for the deal! I just moved to San Fran and hope I can get in on this. Why did you buy your own modem? Do they charge a rental fee if u use theirs?
Comcast modem rental is $7 per month. If you buy a modem (DOCSIS 3.0), you will break even in less than a year.
It might be better to rent for a month & then buy in case there are issues with the new service. If you rent, they try to blame everything on the modem.

Go to that link and enter your address to find out if your address is an area that even has Xfinity internet from Comcast. No-go for me.

No go in Sacramento, CA but I was offered $25 for performance 12mbps down / 6mbps up and $35 for Blast 20/7.
I took the 12/6 plan cause the rates for my existing discounted u-verse 12mbps/1.5mbps goes up this month from $20 to $42. The rep added 3 months free of the Blast 20/7 plan with option to downgrade to the 12/6 plan after the 3 months are over.
Set a reminder in my calendar for 3 months for the switch and a second reminder for 1 year later to switch to u-verse when comcast offer ends.

That's better than what they seem to be offering in most of NorCal, which is $29.99/mo for 1yr. I've been trying for two or three weeks now to get them to budge, but finally caved in yesterday because I do need a stable connection at home.

Anyone have experience with Performance Starter and its rates? I'm willing to downgrade if it's $19.99/mo or less.

I hate how they don't give deals like this for existing customers. I've been waiting all year for one because my $39.99 contract ends this december before it jumps to $60+.

Does your area have another major ISP? I know Comcast does not have much deals in Atlanta area because they are one of the major ISP around here. Everytime I see a Comcast deal here, I can't replicate no matter what I try.

For existing customers, if your contract is expired, there's always your spouse or other family members you can try.
My promotion period has already expired and now paying $42 per month. So do you just basically tell them that you're terminating your existing service and make another call to have another member of your household to avail of the $19.99 promotion

Calling at the end of your contract and saying you are moving on to another company gets you great deals with the retention department.

I'll remember to try that.

They have always tracked your downloads. If you are talking about the new agreement where all of the ISPs are offering to go by the new requirements by MPAA, then it is actually mostly the same. Right now, if Comcast gets 3 complaints from copyright holders on your action, the 4th can cancel your service. With the new one, it is 6 total. They don't do the monitoring, they just act on complaints from the RIAA and MPAA.

Nothing has changed. If people are dumb enough to use public torrents, they will be caught sooner or later. Private torrents and Newsgroups FTW.

Odd, I was just yesterday thinking about making a board game about getting the best deal on internet service. Working with Comcast is much like a game, although things happen too randomly to be a great game. For the past few years I've had a contact in Comcast that always tries to hook me up with the best deal around, but for some reason things never work out right. I've been on the same deal maybe six months now, and I haven't been charged the same amount twice.
