I received a mailer for Comcast Xfinity Performance Internet 19.99 per month for 12 months with 1 year contract or Blast Plus for $49.99 per month for 6 months ends 10/21/12. The only thing I saw here is one ending in 9/23. It might just be NE area, but I called 1-877-397-9782 and I got in woot. Of course they try to sell you the world (bundles, etc). I declined even the self-install kit (paying for shipping for cables and splitter), and told them I purchased my own DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Motorola SB6121 Staples ~$54.99 with PM (Amazon and coupon) plus cost of coupon. I attached the letter so you can read the rest.

On a side note, I HATE how arrogant Verizon Reps are when I called to make sure I'm no longer in a contract. This reps even refers to himself as Mr. ____. I should have given my name as such Mr. Wynn, lol Here's what came out of his mouth:

1. He KNOWS all about the Comcast promos and there is NO $19.99 Internet
2. FIOS is dedicated speed, Comcast shared with neighborhood
3. FIOS has unlimited download, Comcast has cap limitation
4. I won't be paying only $19.99. Uh hello, don't they charge tax and FCC fees as well? They even increased their rental cost of $2 each.
5. He's sorry that I'm downgrading my service

Well, I said "thank you, good bye" and hanged up before he finished whatever he wanted to say.

My promotion period has already expired and now paying $42 per month. So do you just basically tell them that you're terminating your existing service and make another call to have another member of your household to avail of the $19.99 promotion
Make sure there is a promotion for new customers. And there will be some down time depending on their/your efficiency.

Call and tell them you need to terminate your account. They will ask for your reason to terminate. Moving usually gets the job done. You will need to return their equipment if you are using theirs. Get your new equipment before you try this to minimize downtime. Call them up after a few days to setup new account. Use another name and number to call.

Does this require Cable TV subscription? Can you just subscribe to the internet only? In the past I've seen this deal before but it always required TV subscription too.

Nope. I just have Comcast as my ISP. I grabbed this deal a year ago, and now it has gone from $19.99 to $34.99, but still pretty good. It's really fast, and they removed the caps.

We have the same offer (19.99 or 49.99) in our area, but I'm still going to be with Fios (no contract) Big Grin
I'm cheap but I hate comcast so much more & in my experience they are way more arrogant & annoying laugh out loud

This generally works, but is illegal in their terms. I think they have a term for this, "Name Swapping" something.

No Go in Denver, CO.

Question for the folks who have gotten in on a deal like this for Comcast: Do you receive a confirmation (email or letter) that states the terms of your signup (ie. price per month/ internet service level / lenght of promotion) before you are actually connected?
I really don't want to get a surprise X months down the road with a crazy bill spike.

Thanks

Well of course this is not legal. It's not like they don't know about it. It's just that they rather keep their customers by pretending they don't know, as long as you don't tell them what you are trying to do.

Thanks for the deal! I just moved to San Fran and hope I can get in on this. Why did you buy your own modem? Do they charge a rental fee if u use theirs?
Try to see if Sonic.Net's plan is available in your SF area: For SF Bay Area: Sonic.net 20Mbps internet + unlimited phone service $39.95/mo. People seem to be happy with their customer service and the service itself.

For others who were told by Comcast CSR that the $19.99 price is not available, you can try to double check through http://www.comcastspecial.com/ or http://www.comcastoffers.com/ . They may only have a 6-month offer at that price for your area. If you don't mind dealing with rebates, the offer for FAR device(s) may also be interesting compared to renting.

Will Google Fiber ever be generally available in SF Bay Area (not just in a certain university campus)?

I hate how they don't give deals like this for existing customers. I've been waiting all year for one because my $39.99 contract ends this december before it jumps to $60+.
Nah. It's easiest to just go down to your local service center with your modem and tell them you want to shut off your internet services effective immediately. If you're in a contract just tell them you're moving to a non Comcast town and they will remove the ETF rate. Tell them you'd like to close the account today and will pay what you owe. They will close your account. Go back home and call 1.800.comcast and put it in your wife's name. She's a new customer and the phone reps are paid for selling you services so will be hungry to set you back up. If you do not have a significant other you will have to wait a day or two while your account closes in the system and then just call the 1.800 line. It helps to call between 8 am-9pm by the way as this is when you will usually get local reps who have these offers. If you call outside of local hours you get national reps who do not have local offers.

Not legal? Says who? You are a new customer and have never heard of the old customer. You have separate information. Actually per their terms and conditions you are a new customer if you have not had service in 120 days. I know people who call back after six months and cancel and their spouse signs up as a new customer and then they repeat every six months.

Says comcast. Describe your scenario(bold part) to comcast sales rep and seek his reply. Been there done that.
To them, a household is a customer. Of course, you can hide the info that your spouse isn't your spouse.

It's against their terms of service, that is correct. I called my local rep and very vaguely implied that this is what I have in mind. He stopped me mid-sentence and said our phone conversation is being recorded. He told me to call him back after I canceled my account.

Point is, even their reps don't really care about it. To them, a new account is a new account.

No go in Sacramento, CA but I was offered $25 for performance 12mbps down / 6mbps up and $35 for Blast 20/7.
I took the 12/6 plan cause the rates for my existing discounted u-verse 12mbps/1.5mbps goes up this month from $20 to $42. The rep added 3 months free of the Blast 20/7 plan with option to downgrade to the 12/6 plan after the 3 months are over.
Set a reminder in my calendar for 3 months for the switch and a second reminder for 1 year later to switch to u-verse when comcast offer ends.
Is this a 1 year contract or for 6 month with no contract?

Im in Sacramento, CA. Had 19.99 performance for a year, 34.99 for the year after. This month it was bumped to 62.95

Tried a couple phone numbers from SD with no luck. Ended up getting Blast for a year for $39.99.

She's some lady from Fry's, PM if you need her number.
