It varies entirely by market and which tech you speak with. Some will allow 6121s and some wont. Many people report that they just call into TWC and lie to the rep and say its a 6141 and that works 100% of the time. YMMV on that though.

These modems listed you have to buy from a store or online market. I looked on Ebay and found the Motorola SB6141 and 121 at a reasonable price. Your cable company will sell you the one you have but it is the cheaper version than the rest listed. The new ones might give you more bandwidth.

You can either call or live chat. The live chat button is on the top right on the page of the item (above the price). You normally buy it first (with coupon if you have one), then live chat and tell them you found it at a cheaper price, link them, and then they'll do the PM. takes a couple of days for the refund to go through.

When TWC put out the initial list of approved modems, the 6121 was not on it. This modem was added later. 6121 only allows for 4 bonded channels downstream. The 6141 allows for 8 bonded downstream channels making it more future proof than the 6121. This only matters if you are running the higher levels and TWC has deployed the higher bonded channels in your area.

SIMPLE RESPONSE TO THE STATEMENTS ABOVE: WRONGGGGGGG!!!!

I'm using SB6121 with my Socal TWC cable. All you gotto do is once you connect your modem, call your TWC customer service and give them your SB6121 MAC address and your device will work in the matter of minutes.

By the way, this modem is super fast and reliable. I noticed an instant speed increase and ping drop as soon as I switch over to it from a cheap TWC modem. For example my ping to SOCAL game servers was in the mid 30's before the switch, well after the switch my ping dropped to high teens and low 20's (YES TO THE SAME GAME SERVER). Connection reliability is top notch. It keeps me connected to the internet for months without needing to restart. TWC or my router are the only reason why my connection drops now. And even when my TWC connection drops, the modem works so fast on reconnecting, I don't get dropped from the game server. I would pay $100 for this and would still enjoy it. Save your money and invest in this and cheap out on your router. No need to have an expensive router when you still have a crappy modem

p.s. Ive been using this for well over a year and it's as solid as day 1. I bought this when it was $60 a little over a year ago. IT IS SIMPLY THE BEST THING THAT $60 CAN BUY!!!

I changed out to this modem from TWC webstar and for some reason when viewing videos in a webpage (like embedded ones on amazon) the can't stop buffering so videos are impossible to view.

I don't get that on the few I tried on youtube. Any ideas what is going on?

Speedtest results are Ping 59, DL 28.16, UP .85, Ping 56 DL 31, UP .95, Ping 49, DL 23, UP .96. 3 different servers.
