it was the 2140 an old old old model actually my first laser printer ever i bought from frys in 2004 $120 which was a slickdeal at the time. used it till the rollers fell off in 2010 i used that as leverage at staples for the whole trade in for $50 because theres no way in hell that printer was going to flip for $50. so it was worth it.
i still have my first hand-me-down laser from the late 90's when i was a teen (no zits thankfully!!!), HP LaserJet 6, which was around $400 back in late 80's. i did have to replace the paper grab rollers.
i purchased 3-4 $50 toner cartridges, about 1 per year. that was before i knew about refilling a toner cartridge.
it is an energy hog and after a number of pages you could feel the humidity in the heat coming out of it and eventually it would drip onto the printed pages.
also, it was great for printing on index cards and envelopes as you could flip a lever on the front bottom side and printouts would come out at the bottom front instead of curving back up to the top front tray.
due to its design/printing and top print out tray, printed pages would be in reverse order.
i see that 3rd party toner cartridges for it can be had for $25. a family member found me an unopened HP cartridge a few years back for $3 at a church sale!
parallel interface O.O
i still have it and it works, just dated.

Thanks for the assist. On celly now, so will rep u when i'm on a lappy.
here is a video[tonerangel.us] (second video - method 2 for your scx 4100) showing how to remove the end cover and then trying out the cap. you dont have to tap out the old toner like the video shows, just add the new toner to it. note that this can be messy if you make it, so you might want to do it outside and do not breathe the toner dust.
that was on the tip of my tongue. tech people know that lexmark printers are expensive to operate.
yes, keep your old printers for trade in. they could be worth $50! take the toner/ink cartridges out to cash in separately.
