is this worth it??

This is a discontinued model but well worth the bucks as for an entry level system.

Set of 5 Pioneers SP-21, a CP21 (2 pairs of bookshelves, and 1 center) came out to $150.

I see on Amazon that its around $240 for the exact same thing speaker system. so im curious if i should get this.

Great speakers. I paid $200 just a few months back. $150 is a great deal.

The bookshelves are still $50 a pair without the code, but center went up to $99.

I actually ended up getting a pair of 41's, a pair of 21's and a center 21. They just arrived yesterday, still in the box. I can send them back if the speakers in this deal are better.

I bought these a while back for the same price and can't say enough good things about them. You're not going to find any better speakers anywhere close to this price.

Trust me. You can't go wrong with the Energy Take for $150. I did a lot of research on Energy Take system but the price wasn't this great. I ended up getting its sibling, the Energy Take RC Micro, for $170.

I got an 10" Energy S10.3 Subwoofer for $190 from Newegg to match my RC Micro. The pioneer SW-8 only has 8" driver, compared to S10.3 with 10". Also, SW-8 is 100W, while S10.3 is 200W. You make the call...

take the advice from the post regarding the energy subwoofer... stay away from that pioneer sw you posted - it's about as bad a sw as you can buy (i bought it with the intention of returning it as i needed something to test my avr - bad, i know) - i was shocked how bad it was. it's a complete joke.

and good call on the energy's - great little system that i would bet you'll be more than happy with.

In short no. The Pioneers have better sound quality while being much larger and less "sleek" looking. But if you're looking to buy speakers purely for their sound, look no where else.

I agree with the above posters about the sub of the Pioneer set being the low point, a great replacement would be an Energy S10.3, around $200 when it goes on sale on newegg. Check out avsforum for reasons why, but in short it provides very accurate bass without being boomy and I found the paint even matches the Pioneer's well.
