Digital download of a game is fine but not an OS. EVERYONE ends up needing a disc, especially to reload it etc. Microsoft will charge $20 for it and then the digital copy IS NOT a deal. Great find op. In for one

???? So downloading from MS image OS for free and buying the license key for $39.99 total is worse deal than buying the retail kit for $60? Can you burn a disk to save $20 ?

Somewhat, but it is noticeably faster than windows 7, installing some 3rd party software to get the start button back and in the future something that will disable the ad's in metro, and there are ways to turn off metro completely, it is a better windows.

As has already been said, you can always burn the downloaded image to a disc. Why pay MS $15 for a disc???

Lol.. you are getting rid of the actual Windows 8. The Metro is not a feature or extra, the classic windows environment is. Anyways, I'll keep my Windows 7 for PC, but I am gonna be buying my Surface Pro when it releases. Windows 8 is a tablet OS with Classic windows included.

I keep hearing everyone say that Win 8 is faster upon boot and, overall, faster but I am running the Win 8 release preview on a system with a quad-core processor and 8GBs of RAM and I have noticed absolutely no difference in speed over my primary 7 install. I, personally, see absolutely NO reason to "upgrade". For those that do, More power to you but I will stick with 7 and I am usually the first to jump on any new OS release. I guess I've been burned by doing so a few too many times (Vista being a huge burn). It is really sad that, even at this price point, I just can't find one thing to make me want to go for it.

I'm running the retail release 64x pro through msdnaa through my university and the boot and shutdown is significantly faster (on my corsair force 3 120gb)
