Also, we all have different ways in which we work. One way may be quicker than another for some folks but not for others. I know this is a hard concept to grasp for some but we are all different, with different needs and opinions. If one way works for one person, Why should they have to change that to upgrade to an OS that is barely different from the OS they already have (Assuming Metro is disabled, and I would say that is a safe bet since the poster said they hated Metro)??? Regarding 8 vs. 7, who cares? If you don't want it, don't upgrade, just don't complain that others like it and are. No one cares whether you're upgrading or not, or whether they're useful to you in particular. If they're useful to us, we're upgrading, and you people gnashing your teeth and whining that we are is just pointless thread clutter. There are a number of improvements, but it's not anyone's job to tell you whether or not you should upgrade; that exercise is left for the reader to explore. |

Cool we both started programming in DOS at an early age and have a proficient knowledge of computers but we still have differing opinions. That should show you that even people with similar backgrounds can have differing opinions. It's not that I can't adjust to UI changes. It is that, in this case, I see no reason to change the way I do things. I will not change simply to upgrade to an OS that I have no reason to upgrade to. Like I said, If 8 offered some major improvements or at least something that I needed, I would upgrade in a minute. It's not ignorance, simply lack of a reason. I'm not throwing off on or questioning those that want to upgrade. I understand we all have differing opinions. What I don't understand is those that will question those that don't want to upgrade. The poster that you replied to was simply stating an opinion. Why question that opinion? You obviously don't want anyone questioning yours. Last edited by ecsa0014; 10-12-2012 at 05:57 PM.. |

Extremely well said and thought out. Finally someone who knows what they are talking about! Kudos and repped too. Soar |

Also the drive pooling is a killer feature. As far as my computer knowledge I have been using personal computers since BEFORE DOS. My Kaypro still works (and is worth triple what I paid for it) Last edited by aero; 10-12-2012 at 06:08 PM.. |

I'm not trying to get into an e-peen measuring contest. Cool, you have more experience than me but I am definitely not a computer noob. Last edited by ecsa0014; 10-12-2012 at 10:08 PM.. |

According to the supposed elite here in this thread, you don't know what you are talking about and will fall madly in love with it within the next few months. Trust them, they have superior intellect don't you know. |

Screw this stuff. I am sticking with DOS! That stuff was light, small footprint and could run Wizardry like a boss.
All these new fangled operating systems that would create synergy across my tablets, personal computers, gaming devices and other devices is just ludicrous. How can Microsoft expect me to learn a new system? How? It isn't fair. I am sad and must now go kick a puppy and punch a kitten. Know this Microsoft, you caused this. You are responsible for kicked puppies and punched kittens worldwide! WORLDWIDE! |
