I've never paid for their flashlights in my life. I always use the Free LED Flashlight with any Purchase. LMAO

Granted they aren't the Blue and Red ones... but sometimes they've substituted Blue & Red ones when I bitched about them being out of the Black ones. Cool

In as long as I have been watching BF ads, Harbor Freight has never been known for having great deals in their ad. What they have been known for is being one of the first ads out each year. It's simply a sign that the flood is imminent, though it will start as a trickle.

The prices in their BF ad are at best roughly equivalent to your run of the mill parking lot sale. And just like those there will be items with comparatively higher and lower prices each time. To be honest, HF is never going to be able to compete with the big box stores for BF sales. They probably wouldn't even be able to draw the crowd that a parking lot sale would normally draw as customers are busy shopping elsewhere. However as a national chain, they have to put something out there in order to bring people through the door. I think their strategy is to get the ad out early and start distributing it to customers in store over the course of a month.

Yeah, they are cheaply constructed. You just have to replace the batteries with the skill and delicacy of a Chinese factory ninja. All of mine last a while unless I have the dropsies. The batteries are what go out all the time.

I wish. Mostly it's switches. Sometimes even the light assembly pops out. More rarely the front spring thingy on the battery holder. I have a can I toss the carcasses and every once in a while I'll try to make a couple working ones, but it's really not worth the effort. I'm pretty fond of the $9 ones from Homedepot. I like them a bit better than the Costco set because they don't have that dam flash mode. That really kills my vision at night.

Yeah, actually I got some of the FAR ones from Ace Hardware on the After Thanksgiving Sale last year. They are much, much better than the Harbor Freight ones. They have the same amount of LEDs but the light is so much brighter and more focused.

Headlamps were nothing to write home about, but for free what the heck. Flashlights were on par with the costco ones. I was shinning both down the street lighting up mailboxes.
