The E-mount has a much shorter register distance, so it's not as simple as just replacing the mount, as they do between the Canon/Nikon/Pentax/alphaSony models.

This 24mm, unlike the Sony/Zeiss 24mm, is a retrofocus design, which they had to do to clear the mirror. So, if they were to just make an E-mount on this lens, it would be huge, and wouldn't sell very well. If you want a 24mm manual focus lens, you're better off buying this lens plus an adapter, as mentioned, or just buy yourself the awesome awesome Sony/Zeiss. It's more expensive, but the optics are amazing, it's autofocus, and it is much much smaller than this lens.

Picked up the Fisheye, been wanting to get one for a while now.

Don't forget, Fisheye is APS-C only. Should be obvious, from the focal length, but thought I should mention it.

What's the benefit or primary use of the wide angle lens from the default 18-55mm lens that comes with the Nikon D3100?

This is a prime lens, so fixed focal length but has a huge aperture and should be fast, only that it has no auto focus No go for me

Looking at the prices, the 24mm seems to have the chip for metering (nikon only).

Fisheye seems NOT to have the metering chip, so careful with the lower/mid-end cameras (again, nikon only).

This is a good price for the 24mm.

FYI, they (Rokinon/Samyang) seem to offer their chipped lens for Nikon mount only.
