So, we got one

I didn't think it was going to happen. I asked for the price match, young employee has no problem. I pull out the coupon after PM is complete, and without scanning it, he says, no, you can't use the coupon and price match as well. I was resigned, but my more persuasive fine-print type of friend said, could I see a copy of your price match policy?

So, the manager is called and shows us the price match policy, saying it's against the policy to combine offers... my friend reads it, says he can't find this in the policy, could the manager please show him where it says this... he can't, because it's not there. Manager finally says to base it on what the coupon says, and has the employee call some sort of coupon support line for Staples while he promptly disappears. The employee calls, and asks if the coupon can be combined with other offers... 5 minutes later, there's nothing in the coupon print that states it cannot be combined.

Summary: Ask to see the policy, back off only if it's written somewhere. Employees (and managers!) don't know everything.
