Windows 8 $59 @ TigerDirect

just curious if ms was to rehash the same thing as they did in windows 7, would people complain that thyre rehashing the same thing again?....and i ask that seriously....

What do you mean? 7 was a rehash of Vista. No one complained. Every loves save any hates Vista even though Vista with the right drivers and after SP1 is totally fine. A bit outdated nowadays but stable.

Windows 8 is getting a lot of hate online, but I really think the general public is going to like it once they play with it on tablets. Microsoft is opening Microsoft Store kiosks a LOT of places plus every electronics retailer will have a demo out.

I was just at Best Buy and they have 3 computers with Windows 8 on display. None touch though which was dumb.2 laptops and 1 AIO. Right next to them they have a small sign, showing the gestures for touch and the equivalent hot corners for mousing.

Amazing how some people just have no clue. 8 is a brand new file system to replace the antiquated one that's been in place for ages. Win 8 is lighter weight and will run faster than win 7 on the same hardware which means the cheap ass shit most of you own will run better. You can force desktop mode if touch isn't your game, but in a tablet world, you have to compete. Win 7 tablets were so touch unfriendly. People liked the idea of having x86 power in a tablet, but those tablets were a tough sell. Now there are options to please everyone. And if you think Win 7 is fine, then keep using it. Don't believe anyone is holding a gun to your head to upgrade. So why bitch?

Huh? Every Windows OS since Windows 3.0 could be called a rehash, by that standard . Vista---->Win7 especially were barely any different post SP1, but Win7 is regarded quite highly.

So I really do not understand why everyone's bickering about Windows 8 on this thread? If you're interested in upgrading to Windows 8 and believe that this is a good price to do so, rep the OP. If you have your inhibitions about Windows 8, just move on to the next deal.

I will ignore my disdain for TigerDirect and just say that the price on this is barely okay. I'm planning on buying my Windows 8 Pro upgrade from OfficeMax for $40 including the DVDs.
It starts in 2 days and it's $70 - 30 Max perks rewards which I have a lot of and need to use up.

Upgrade should be in title because that is what it is. If this was the full version $59 would be a slickdeal, this price it is nothing special.
