Just went in today to the Microsoft Store in Century City, CA. The "gift cards" they are giving out for the "Bing It On" promotion are not gift cards - they are more like $25 off coupons.
For everyone saying that they can be used just like the $25 gift cards given out in the Windows Phone promotion, then you haven't gone to the Microsoft Store for this Bing It On promotion. They aren't the same gift cards. So stop giving information based on a past promotion. These can't be used online. You CANNOT go in multiple times and stack these Bing It On $25 coupons (like some people have mentioned in wanting to get a free laptop). However, if you have actual Microsoft Gift Cards (like from the Windows Phone promotion), you can use them with one Bing It Coupon to get an additional $25 off your purchase. |

Just got back from the Palo Alto MS store. For very little effort they gave me a business-card sized coupon for $25 off my IN-STORE purchase until 10-25-12 (Windows 8 conveniently comes out 10-26-12). They didn't ask my name or any info so I might head back next week. It is NOT stackable with any other discount but true GCs should work in conjunction with the coupon. I walked out with a 4-pack of AA eneloop rechargeable batteries and a 4-pack of AAA eneloop rechargeable batteries each $10.99. Came out to $23.82 after tax, but free after giving up the coupon.
BTW, google won 4/5 times for my searches. I find it interesting that this thread had only 1 TU before I TUed but if, say, Target was giving away 8 eneloop rechargeable batteries in store for free, it'd hit FP in less time than it would take to do the Bing it Challenge (5 mins) SD, the internet's flash mob headquarters.

I just got back from a Microsoft store (SCP in SoCal) and asked them about it:
First, they gave out T-shirts. They ran out. Then, they gave 25$ GIFT CARDS while waiting for the vouchers to come in. Currently, they're giving away 25$ vouchers, and will be for the remainder of the duration. (Didn't ask what they'd do if they ran out.) Shirts are shirts. Gift cards are ordinary giftcards. Vouchers are 25$, NOT stackable, and DO NOT retain value if you only use a part of it. And, in South Coast Plaza, at least, the only <25$ items they have in stock (as of ~30 minutes ago) are the various cards, like ZunePass or XBox Live. (3-Month Hulu was sold out.) |

I'm just tired of Bing being shoved down my throat. I've tried it, and I dont see any reason to use it over google search. Especially since Bings search results have more "partnered" results, which compromise the utility of the search. And the bing search tool on the xbox 360 is quite useless. Yet I continue to be bombarded by bings ads on TV and on the web, to remind me what a fool I am for not using MS's search engine. They are trying to succeed by playing a numbers game, by throwing as much marketing/advertising dollars at it as it takes, rather than succeeding by providing a superior service. |
