Yep, the 6D at $2099 will push the 5D Mark III's price back up to $3000 or so.
Why? Keep dreaming. We already have a $1799 FF Camera (mk2), so I can't see how the 6D will push up the price. My guess is that by thetime the 6D hits the street, then hopefully 5D2 inventory will be depleted.
Keep in mind that the 6D is priced similarly to the D600 which on paper at least outclasses it (for the record, I shoot Canon). Unless you're heavily vested in EF lenses, the D600 will appear as the better option to most.
I suspect Canon will need to drop the official price of the MK3 to around $2999, at least to make it comparable to the D800.
I think we'll continue to see 5D3 deals, and the price will go lower, even after the 6D is released. I would not be surprised if we see a price drop on the 6D in order for Canon to remain competitive with Nikon.
Nikon's latest offerings appear to have fared extremely well, but I think the real disappointment for most of us was finding out that the 6D only has a 9-point AF system.
My hunch is that we'll continue to see these 5D3 deals on eBay with price pressure pushing it lower, while the 6D will be pushed downward to $1799 or so.
