I will be looking for a 50"-60" this year. With the bigger (60"+) TV's becoming more popular, 4K on the horizon, and new technologies (OLED) I'm hoping I can pick up a top of the line 60" plasma for less than $750. Hopefully someone will have a nice wood TV stand to go with it at a reasonable price. Seems like most all wood TV stands are made of crap materials or cost more than the rest of the furniture in my living room.

if some of these 60" tvs with 120Hz true refresh rates are going for ~900 I might consider selling my 47" 3D Vizio for 600 and getting one of those...i bought mine only last year but after looking at all the 60 inch screens, 47 feels small
...especially when you watch a lot of blu-ray moviesEDIT: does anyone have any speculations as to how much the Panny P60ST50 models will be going for this BF? Last edited by jinxeddeep; 10-15-2012 at 07:27 AM.. |

I will be looking for a 42" TV this year. Hoping to get something below $300. If something like this comes along before BF I will probably grab it and be done with it. I am more likely to get something via the web. I am not really too psyched to camp out overnight somewhere.

2 years ago I picked up a 42 inch plasma from BUY.com for 300. Was anyone else a part of that fiasco?

I bought mine in Dec of 2010. It did not go on sale during Black Friday (of course, YMMV). I bought the WD73-9C model and it's been a great purchase. Shipped, I paid $1162.00 and that was after stalking it for 2-3 months. MSRP was $2500 w/ most selling it for around $1700 at the time. I bought it from Paul's Electronics. This shipping packaging was excellent and the delivery service handled my new toy with kid gloves. Of course, they sent 1 guy to deliver a TV up 2 flights of stairs. (Yes I told them in advance), so I had to help bring it up, but luckily these TVs are mostly empty space, so it's fairly light for such a ginormous TV. I just did a quick search and found basically the deal I got, with extra goodies thrown in. http://www.paulstv.com/Bundles/Mi...ficate.asp That was 2 years ago. There should be better deals towards the end of this year as they move out the previous year's models and stock the newer ones. I believe that's the deal I got on mine. Good luck! It's a great TV. I will suggest that you purchase a spare bulb. I also suggest springing the $99 for a genuine Mitsu bulb. The knock off I bought on Amazon was the "best" of the cheapos ($45), but the 1st one lasted all of 2 months. The second one (warranty replacement) has lasted a month so far. I still have the original bulb as my a spare and if the replacement bulb dies again, it's off to Mitsu to spring $99 bucks. My setup: (Note: The TV looks much better in person. This was taken with a phone camera.) Note: I'm using a coffee table I bought from IKEA as the TV stand. It's worked well so far. What you can't see in the picture is the 2 metal braces this coffee table comes with. They sit between the 2 levels and make it quite sturdy in the middle area. Holds the TV fine and doesn't put it up too high. I cannot remember the stupid name IKEA gave it tho, so you'll have to hunt a bit if you like the stand. Good Hunting!
