Thanks for the reply. That was definitely a good deal in 2010. I actually saw that stand recommended for the Mits in another thread. They sell it on amazon.

Does the TV give a good theater like experience? I coming from a Plasma and will mostly use it for blu rays and TV. Hows the black level? I'm Going to be painting my room walls black. I'll be sure to pick up a spare Mits branded bulb too. I'm hoping the 73 C12 model goes down to $850-$900.

BTW, does your Mits do 3D, or just 2D like the C12 model? Thanks again.

I'm not really a BF shopper, but this year I'm looking for a tv as gift for my friend. She has a small space for a tv so I'm looking from something in the 20-29 inch range. Are the deals usually good in this range? Most of the talk I see is about tvs 32 inches and larger. What can I expect to pay? The tv I have my eye on runs around $250 right now. I hope I can find a better price. I'd like to get her an Xbox as well. It would be nice if I could get both gifts for under $300.

The TV gives a great theater experience, imo. Blacks levels will never match those of Plasma/LCD/LEDs, but that doesn't mean it's a bad picture. I actually use it as the monitor for my Media PC via HDMI. I also have a PS3 and Xbox hooked up to it and all look great. Basically, any signal 720p or better looks fantastic, with the lower resolutions still good.

This unit is 3D capable, but I never bought the kit. Reviews online seem to point towards headaches after 30-60 mins of a movie. Never bought them, so I can't confirm it.

The only real downside to this TV is once you get comfortable with 73" TVs, 50" TVs seem small..

I bought mine in Dec of 2010. It did not go on sale during Black Friday (of course, YMMV). I bought the WD73-9C model and it's been a great purchase. Shipped, I paid $1162.00 and that was after stalking it for 2-3 months. MSRP was $2500 w/ most selling it for around $1700 at the time.

I bought it from Paul's Electronics. This shipping packaging was excellent and the delivery service handled my new toy with kid gloves. Of course, they sent 1 guy to deliver a TV up 2 flights of stairs. (Yes I told them in advance), so I had to help bring it up, but luckily these TVs are mostly empty space, so it's fairly light for such a ginormous TV.

I just did a quick search and found basically the deal I got, with extra goodies thrown in.

That was 2 years ago. There should be better deals towards the end of this year as they move out the previous year's models and stock the newer ones. I believe that's the deal I got on mine.

Good luck! It's a great TV. I will suggest that you purchase a spare bulb. I also suggest springing the $99 for a genuine Mitsu bulb. The knock off I bought on Amazon was the "best" of the cheapos ($45), but the 1st one lasted all of 2 months. The second one (warranty replacement) has lasted a month so far. I still have the original bulb as my a spare and if the replacement bulb dies again, it's off to Mitsu to spring $99 bucks.

Note: I'm using a coffee table I bought from IKEA as the TV stand. It's worked well so far. What you can't see in the picture is
the 2 metal braces this coffee table comes with. They sit between the 2 levels and make it quite sturdy in the middle area.
Holds the TV fine and doesn't put it up too high. I cannot remember the stupid name IKEA gave it tho, so you'll have to hunt
a bit if you like the stand.
