THIS IS FOR NEW ACTIVATION ONLY. ALSO, YOU CANNOT FLASH A PHONE TO METROPCS ANYMORE.
Quite limited 4G network. Check coverage in your area by copying and pasting "http://maps.metropcs.com/" (for some reason a hotlink won't take you right to this page). Check "High Contrast View" in lower right corner.

MetroPCS does not have a 3g network, so you are throttle down to 2G when you are over the limit. Their 2G is pretty close to 56k modem speed, that's not a joke.

Galaxy S3 is $499.

What is the best Android phone under $200 for this deal?
ZTE Anthem 4G - $199

LG Motion 4G - $150

Coolpad Quattro 4g - $79 (if you are really on a budget)

Seems like a good deal, but MetroPCS is being acquired by T-Mobile..so time will tell what happens to plans like this. (The phones will be useless since MetroPCS is CDMA..and T-Mobile plans on phasing it out).
This wont be completed until June 2013, and then they'll start moving people over to T-Mobile phones until 2015... so you're fine.

Now if you don't talk much, I'd suggest you got the $30 100 minutes, unlimited text and 5GB data (EDGE speeds if you go over) on T-mobile.

"The deal, which will be a reverse merger with MetroPCS buying out T-Mobile, will end with Deutsche Telekom owning 74% of the US-based budget carrier and MetroPCS getting a cool $1.5 billion. It's easy to see why Deutsche Telekom wants to buy MetroPCS, as doing so will give T-Mobile the boost it needs here in the US. "

Confused
I don't get it. If MetroPCS is buying out T-Mobile, why is MetroPCS getting the $1.5 billion?

because Deutsche Telekom (parent company of US T-mobile) is getting 75% of the the US based merger between US T-mobile and metroPCS.

Confused
It's kind of like when AOL bought Time Warner in 2000. AOL, a company with 4.8B in annual revenue bought Time Warner, which had 26.8B in revenue.

As was shown in AT&T's failed buyout of T-Mobile, Deutsche Telekom wants to divest themselves from the U.S. market. Since MetroPCS is a NYSE publicly traded company and T-Mobile isn't, this deal essentially lets T-Mobile become a publicly traded company without going through the normal IPO process. With their 74% stock holding, they can gradually sell off their share if they find the added MetroPCS spectrum still isn't enough to compete against AT&T and Verizon.

you will be very disappointed. I've tried them both. metropcs has worse internet coverage and is much slower than virginmobile (which is sprint's).

It's definitely not gb. That's insane and doesn't make any sense, especially given this is the intro 4g plan

MetroPCS is terrible in my area, but you can flash most of the Sprint phone to MetroPCS, like Evo LTE or Galaxy S3, except iphone 4s/5.

You only get 3G though. If you know how to use QPST, you can buy bad esn sprint phone and flash it to MetroPCS. I guess if you know how to use it, you would rather flash the phone and use it with $30 SERO plan without paying $20 more.
i have been using sii on my sero $30 for 8 months. i got the bad esn sii for $130 almost new from fleabay

If you live in a strong signal area (and don't leave it), Metro is a decent carrier. That said, here in N. California (greater Sacramento/SF/bay area, their coverage is hit and miss..and mostly miss. I had Metro for two weeks and since I cover a large sales territory, it was frustrating to get text and emails hours later when a decent signal was available. A real YMMV network. I think the merger with T-Mo will be great for the consumer..competition is what drives down or stabilizes cost.

Forgot to add that Virgin/Boost/native Sprint has much better coverage in my area. Data can be spotty, but never a problem with receiving text or email. I have two of my reps on VM without issues and I'm running PagePlus, which has strong native Verizon coverage. For my needs, I'll never go back to 2 year contracts, higher costs, and won't miss the little added fees/charges that appeared on the statement quite often.
