I believe it's the other way around. MetroPCS will be acquiring T-Mobile, but they are going with the GSM network like you said.
I hear it won't be until at least 2014 (maybe end of...?) when they've really consolidated the networks.

Could someone in the SF/Oakland area please give me an idea of what kind of speeds I'd get if I were to switch over to Metro? Currently on TMO's 100 min prepaid plan, but unlimited everything doesn't sound half bad!!! How're the non-4G speeds after 250mb?

Doh! They used to give you the first month's service free (which would help offset the cost of the phone)...do they at least still do that?

Some of you are half retarded and can't even read the slashgear article.

Facts:

T-mobile is buying metropcs. Period.

T-mobile will continue to be T-mobile

MetroPCS customers will become T-mobile customers

MetroPCS will be no more

Current MetroPCS stockholders will hold 26% stock in t-mobile USA and get $1.5billion cash for their stock.

This is called a reverse merger because instead of t-mobile buying all the stock and keeping the metropcs brand they are destroying the brand and giving metropcs stockholders stock in t-mobile.
you da dawg randy!

metropcs doesnt have 3g network, they have edge and very limited lte
They don't have edge since they have a cdma network

Quote from slicklorey View Post :
so will those current metropcs cdma phones be useless after metropcs use gsm networks?
Not necessarily, especially for the lte phones.multiple lte phones are compatible with GSM networks
