Looking for some good games for 3 teeneage boys 10-14 for PS3 or Wii. They like the violent call of duty type games. I was hoping for something similar but with less bad language. Does anyone thing the Best Buy buy 2 get 1 free on preowned is a good deal? I really appreciate all help thanks

Arkham Asylum and Arkham City (Batman) are not like Call of Duty (first person shooter), but are great fun! Borderlands and Borderlands 2 are FPS and are fun, but some of the language is still there. Actually I think there is a bit of language in the Batman games too. Bioshock games are good, but I dont remember them that well to recall the language. For PS3 the Uncharted and God of War games are must haves. GOW has some boobies but not... hmmm... wait... GOW3 has something kind of sexual... crud I dont remember... LOL

Well all the good games are going to have some bad stuff that moms dont approve of. I guess just go off the ESRB ratings. If it is M stay away.

Guess I wasnt much help :-P

But yeah Uncharted games are really good and the language isnt that bad (third person shooter though)

Kyle: Dude! I almost thought those Afghani kids talked you into not liking America.
Stan: No, dude. America may have some problems, but it's our home. Our team. And if you don't wanna root for your team, then you should get the hell out of the stadium.
Kyle: Yeah.
Stan: <salutes the American flag> Go America.
Kyle: <salutes> Go America...
Stan: Go Broncos
Kyle: Yeah go Broncos.
Cartman: Yeah...

inFAMOUS 1 or 2 for the PS3 they might like it's a action style game where you have electrical powers and inFAMOUS 2 is free right now if you are a PlayStation Plus member a year of Plus is $49.99.

And when you are buying games turn them over and read what it says in the ESRB box it will say if it has strong language, Blood, or Adult content That will help you pick out what you want them to play or not.

I think you should let them choose their own games rather than limit their selection

Wii or PS3.

As a HUGE fan of Borderlands, I'd steer clear of it if you're worried about language. Not only is it very VERY easy to hear, but some of the stuff get's pretty intense.

http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Goliath

sample:
Raging

"Get ready to feel my fingers in your eyeballs!"
"You're going to be screaming!"
"Try breathing through crushed lungs!"
"I'll crack your skull open with my thumbs!"
"Get on your god damn knees!"
"Ever been strangled with your own intestines?"
"You better GOD DAMN scream for me!"
"I'm gonna gouge your eyes out!"
"Die for me, bitch!"
"Sweet mother of GOD!"
"Murdering you is gonna feel so RIGHT!"
"Mother FUUUUUUAAAAHHHH!"
"I'm going to rip you a THIRD ASSHOLE!"

don't take this the wrong way but i would imagine (having been a teen/preteen 20 yrs ago) they use and hear that language all the time. I think the context of video game has much less of an impact than a movie/tv as it is so far from real. but that's just my thoughts.

CoD has that much offensive language? Haven't played MW3 so I guess they changed alot. Or maybe Borderlands 2 has tainted my brain. Cause if you don't like strong language, then steer extremely clear from Borderlands. =p

I think it is a valid point, but I would counter that just because it happens doesnt mean she should condone it. I think providing a source of that sort of inappropriate language is where she doesnt want to go. That way the kids know better than to cross the line. Just my opinion though.

And yeah, good point about Borderlands (Phrozt et al)... I forgot how "colorful" it was Stick Out Tongue

Do they like sports games?
