Authorized dealer means that Canon will back up their 1-year warranty, whereas an unauthorized dealer, you are left to hope that the dealer takes care of any issues if something goes wrong.

That said, the standard price for the body from authorized dealers is $1799, so you're saving $250 here. And for that $250, you could have a 3 years squaretrade warranty with accident protection (WAY better than what Canon offers), or you could just insure your gear for <$50/yr, which is something you should probably do anyway if you have a $1500 camera.

So, the risk is that if something goes wrong in a year, Canon won't fix it for free. But, use some of the savings to insure the camera and you still come out ahead.

Does Canon may service this grey market unit or act like Nikon NO service for grey market unit?
Does 5D markii equal to NIKON D700? For starter to go FX should go new D600 or 5D markii?

If your lcd screen blacks out, or you can't take a picture because it's showing "ERROR" in your lcd screen then you are f*cked cause Canon's not going to service grey-market items.

Canon will not service it. Warranties are like insurance companies, they will find and try every single way to deny your claim.

Very attractive price. Not long ago USED units were going for this price.

With this deal you don't get a Canon manufacturer's warranty, but do get a warranty through the seller for 1 year. Word of caution though, Canon may not service the camera if it goes TU. I know for sure Nikon does not service grey market at all.
