I'm fine with having a processor and mobo that are overkill. And yes I do rip a lot of DVDs/BluRays.
I ordered the Kingston HyperX XMP Blu Red Series. Should I cancel that order? I do not know what problems come with voltages over 1.5.
If you have Sandy Bridge, it'll just underclock it automatically for you. So it'll run on 1333mhz on 1.5v instead of the 1600 on 1.6v. Also, depends on the mobo, but that's what usually happens. If it's incompatible, it just may not turn on at all and you can just message them and tell them you need an exchange/return. I havent tried it on the new ivy bridges, so im not sure.
Most of the time you can run 1600 at 1.5v on many of these sticks (at least with the Kingston 1333 Blu ones many people have reported success). Just have to change the settings in your BIOS and run some load/mem tests for stability.
Great deal BTW.. Haven't seen the Ripjaws X this low since last year around this time, think it was a Black Friday special then too...
