Since this is a portable drive, can I rip it out of the bay and use it in a laptop? or is the sata-usb soldered on in this model?
not this one. you have to get the one with the mini-usb connector. None of the 3.0 drives have the removable adapter. They're all soldered to the board.
I just bought this 500GB one from ebay and tore it out last week to upgrade my playstation 3. That's the old 40GB drive in the background. I haven't put it in this case yet.
