Thanks to Gary @ View from the wing for this [boardingarea.com],

How to INSTANTLY get Marriott Silver status level when signing up.... (from a variety of companies that Marriott has corporate agreements with.)

There’s a simple link, the format is
http: // www. joinmarriottrewards. com/account/silver/default.aspx?source=COMPANYNAME (Replace COMPANYNAME with the name of your company!! and delete the spaces)

So the link for IBM [joinmarriottrewards.com] is http://www.joinmarriottrewards.com/account/silver/default.aspx?source=IBM

And the link for Accenture [joinmarriottrewards.com] is http://www.joinmarriottrewards.com/account/silver/default.aspx?source=ACCENTURE

And the link for the University of California [joinmarriottrewards.com] is http://joinmarriottrewards.com/account/silver/default.aspx?source=UniversityofCalifornia

ETC ETC...You can try to enter your own company name to see what’s offered, if anything.

Here's some more...
Link for Cisco [joinmarriottrewards.com]
Link for Chevron [joinmarriottrewards.com]
Link for ATT [joinmarriottrewards.com]
Link for Verizon. [joinmarriottrewards.com]
Link for Dell [joinmarriottrewards.com]
Link for Comcast [joinmarriottrewards.com]
Link for Cisco [joinmarriottrewards.com]
Link for Fedex [joinmarriottrewards.com]

Here's a link to the priviliges you get as a Silver elite member. [marriott.com]

And a link to the Fortune 500 companies. [cnn.com] If anyone wants to try and see what works and what doesn't.

I don't know if existing members without status can sign up for this or not...But I'm fairly certain, that if you truly have proof that you work at that company, then Marriott will work with you. Their customer service reps are excellent.

For those that want to use any of these links to sign up, Go ahead...No one is going to ask you for proof of membership at the hotel, but it's a risk you're taking.

Cheers! Big Grin

Please try your company and post the link here. Also please mention if it worked or didn't work.

Links works for FedEx http://www.joinmarriottrewards.co...urce=FedEx

UBS: http://www.joinmarriottrewards.co...source=ubs

Yes it DOES work for existing members. I signed in and sent a message to Marriott Rewards telling them what company I worked for and I received the following response:

I got a message saying that iIm in Marrirot Rewards, but how do i know if I have silver status? Btw I clicked on the University of California link.
It should display your status when u log into your marriott account .
Slightly off topic you can also get the platinum status if you stay 9 nights in 3 months . You would have to call to activate this challenge. Biggest benefits are free breakfast and 50 percent boost in points .

Great deal...repped.

I will transfer my points from my current account to this new account and close my old account since I don't currently have the silver status on my "old" account.

They don't have any way to verify that you work for ANY of these companies. Just pick a very large one and sign up.

10% discount on weekends at some brands
20% boost in Marriott points
30% more OTs from guest services
You have to book through Marriott website to get the discount? Or can get discount even using site like priceline?
