Just made a trip. Used at $15 and $10 without any of the aforementioned problems but the dang register was impossibly slow. It took me almost ten minutes for two transactions because it kept pausing and stuttering. UGH!

And to further theorize, your register was stuttering cause the camera didn't capture your face and the registered balked until it did get your face. yes, I am paranoid and this is what I think about on my free time... I just burned all my Zombie Coupons... going to schedule a couple of sessions with my plastic surgeon to thwart Home Depot's efforts in bringing me down.... see you guys in the clink... |

As far as the Obama comment goes, not sure about that one, google "Obama's ring" I am perplexed by that "theory". I am not saying, I am just saying. |

There could be any number of reasons. One of the things I thought about is how it is "Lawn & Garden" which probably doesn't sell as much going into the winter time (of course the fact that they are letting it work on Christmas / Cleaning supplies kind of kills that). They probably built a pretty nice email list from legit players. There are also plenty of people that got bored and stopped playing after the $5. Overall, the idea is nice (game with coupon reward). The problem is they didn't take into account the non-legit players. There could have been something in the contract with the company that build the game where they are going to have to take a hit from this. All in all, they probably set a budget and met it so they stopped the game early. Even with cheat engine, there was still a limit as to how many you could get as it still took time (after they fixed some of the bigger exploits). They got really screwed with someone released the javascript code that let you get the coupons without playing. If that would have been up here for a longer period of time, Home Depot might have taken different action. Considering it is a lawn and garden coupon and having worked retail in the past. They probably aren't losing that much money. "Some" stuff people are buying is stuff that they probably wouldn't have sold and would have had to clearance / get rid of anyway. They are most definitely taking a hit on people stocking up on the cleaning supplies / paper towels / laundry detergent / etc as I am sure their costs are higher on those products than the lawn and garden products. At this point, I wouldn't over analyze it. They put the game out there, people got great coupons, now use them. Let Home Depot Corporate office worry about the other stuff. I doubt we will see something like this again. |
