Best deal I've seen for non-student, non-amazon mom account

You will qualify for and receive your statement credit if you purchase Amazon Prime with your Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card from 10/15/12 to 11/15/12. Please allow 2 weeks after qualifying for the statement credit to post to your account. Credit card product changes during the promotional period will forfeit this offer. To qualify for this offer, your account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This promotional offer is non-transferable and applies only to the account ending in the last 4 digits referenced in this offer. Certain restrictions apply. To learn more about Amazon Prime, go to www.amazon.com/primeterms to see Prime Terms & Conditions.

For Amazon student members who lost their prime benefits (and who have the Amazon Visa as their primary card): Click "get started" then click "sign me up". It won't say anything about the $20 credit. On the next page you will see:
"Thank you for being an Amazon.com Rewards Visa Cardmember and now an Amazon Prime member.
You will receive your $20 statement credit two weeks after the membership fee posts to your card."

If for some reason you do not get the message about the $20 statement credit, you can cancel immediately and get a full refund

List of Kindle books available for free to Prime members is found here [amazon.com].

This only works if you add your amazon card as a default payment card. If you do so, you will get $19 student prime

-----
"This only works if you add your amazon card as a default payment card." <--- This statement is confusing. As long as you pay with your Chase Amazon Visa Card (Not the Amazon Store Card if you have one) you qualify for this offer. It is very simple, as soon as you click on the link and login to your amazon, the system will check if you have a Chase Amazon card. If you do, it won't say anything at first. If you don't it will display a message saying you are not eligible. If you have the Chase Amazon Card, make sure you pay the $79 subscription fee with your Chase Amazon. As soon as the payment is completed, the system will confirm that you will receive your statement credit in 2 weeks. It doesn't matter if your chase amazon card is default or not. It doesn't matter if you got the email or not. Your elegibilit is based on you having the chase amazon card registered to your account and making sure you use it to pay for your prime membership. gwmadrigal.

i currently have student prime and it's set to expire on the 24th. if i let it renew automatically, will the $20 credit work?

i tried cancelling to renew, but it won't let me cancel. it only let me turn off auto renew.
Same situation for me and it did NOT work. I even inquired with one of their 'chat' reps beforehand and was told yes, based on the last 4 digits of my card I would be receiving the $20 statement credit. Well two weeks went by and no statement credit! So yesterday I did the 'chat' thing again and this time they came back saying no, I wasn't eligible because it was by email invitation only and I hadn't received the email! I wish they'd make up their damn minds and give me a consistent answer!

I do NOT like prime, only a few items are prime eligible and the ones that are are abhorrently overpriced to factor in the shipping.

really a lot of stuff from amazon is majorly overpriced, shop smart, a lot of the same stuff they sell on amazon for 7$ is 2$ at walmart.

Everything that is prime is super saver shipping anyway, is getting your item in 3 days rather than 5 really worth it for a yearly fee?

Picked my Wii U up at midnight at Wal-Mart; there were tons w/ nobody else there! I was tempted to grab another one to resell but felt guilty and didn't (even though the guy asked "how many?"). The stupid Wal-mart didn't have Mario, ZombiU or Black Ops II so I just have NintendoLand right now. Heading up to Best Buy in a few minutes (they opened early) to snag some games and to see if I can get them to match the Toys R Us deal or at the very least Target.

Almost everything amazon sells is prime eligible. I'm surprised how many people have a hard time telling the difference between 3rd party sellers. I do agree that their prices are not as great as they used to be.

But the no minimum has definitely come in handy a few times for me. So many split second deals are under $25, and if you spend time looking for fillers you'd miss them. And if you have any interest in the large and growing video library, that makes it well worth it practically by itself, with the free shipping an added perk.

An update on my results with this deal. I signed up on 11/11 and the statement credit came on 11/13. Very quickly. However, I did get this deal in the mail originally and my rewards credit card last 4 digits were specifically named in that mailing. I hadn't checked my credit card statement until today because I thought it was going to come 2 weeks later.

I got the statement credit but did not get whatever message right after signing up you guys are talking about. The reason I knew about this deal was because I actually was sent a piece of postal mail giving me this offer. My guess is that is why the statement credit was automatically entered. My card was specifically called out for this offer. I don't know how they chose who would be sent the offer. I got amazon prime on 11/10 and 11/13 got the statement credit.

If you don't have the statement credit yet, I would recommend contacting Amazon to ask why. You might not ever be able to get this deal because you weren't part of the offer, but you might as well try.

I never got my credit either. After chatting with two employees who could not help me, I set an email to their customer service. They responded and apologized for my trouble and applied a $20 credit to my amazon.com account.
