Best deal I've seen for non-student, non-amazon mom account

You will qualify for and receive your statement credit if you purchase Amazon Prime with your Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card from 10/15/12 to 11/15/12. Please allow 2 weeks after qualifying for the statement credit to post to your account. Credit card product changes during the promotional period will forfeit this offer. To qualify for this offer, your account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This promotional offer is non-transferable and applies only to the account ending in the last 4 digits referenced in this offer. Certain restrictions apply. To learn more about Amazon Prime, go to www.amazon.com/primeterms to see Prime Terms & Conditions.

For Amazon student members who lost their prime benefits (and who have the Amazon Visa as their primary card): Click "get started" then click "sign me up". It won't say anything about the $20 credit. On the next page you will see:
"Thank you for being an Amazon.com Rewards Visa Cardmember and now an Amazon Prime member.
You will receive your $20 statement credit two weeks after the membership fee posts to your card."

If for some reason you do not get the message about the $20 statement credit, you can cancel immediately and get a full refund

List of Kindle books available for free to Prime members is found here [amazon.com].

This only works if you add your amazon card as a default payment card. If you do so, you will get $19 student prime

-----
"This only works if you add your amazon card as a default payment card." <--- This statement is confusing. As long as you pay with your Chase Amazon Visa Card (Not the Amazon Store Card if you have one) you qualify for this offer. It is very simple, as soon as you click on the link and login to your amazon, the system will check if you have a Chase Amazon card. If you do, it won't say anything at first. If you don't it will display a message saying you are not eligible. If you have the Chase Amazon Card, make sure you pay the $79 subscription fee with your Chase Amazon. As soon as the payment is completed, the system will confirm that you will receive your statement credit in 2 weeks. It doesn't matter if your chase amazon card is default or not. It doesn't matter if you got the email or not. Your elegibilit is based on you having the chase amazon card registered to your account and making sure you use it to pay for your prime membership. gwmadrigal.

I never got my credit either. After chatting with two employees who could not help me, I set an email to their customer service. They responded and apologized for my trouble and applied a $20 credit to my amazon.com account.
your account is student's ?

Mine is. Emailed them and they said the promo was for the $79 membership, but they gave me a $20 promotional credit anyways.

interesting! How did you get them to credit $20 back instead of giving you a $20 promo credit?

I have stopped shopping at Amazon.com this year since:
1. they started charging tax for my state,
2. there is no free prime account for student,
3. they reduced the discount for the subscription and amazon mom and all others I don't remember the exact names.

I now shop at drugstore.com, toysrus and all others via shoprunner. And yeah, I don't pay tax for buying from any of those stores.
There are few more big changes to Amazon that you probably hate also.

- Subscribe & Save now only ship once a month. So if you buy at the wrong time, you may need to wait almost 4 weeks for it to ship
- Some of the item become "ADD ON" item that you can't even purchase as a paid PRIME member unless you buy $25+.
And more and more item that used to be free prime shipped now become ADD ON.

Were you selected for this offer?
I also have not received it. I signed on 11/03. Chatted with them on 12/18 when they said they are escalating it.
Again chatted today and they are escalating it again. This one has been a pain.

Now on a phone call with them. Hopefully this would be the last one and the issue would get resolved.

Did anyone get their $20 credit yet? I am past the 2 week mark that they mention in their terms and conditions, but nothing yet...
I also have not received it as of 01/03/2013 (hd signed up for the $79 Prime membership on 11/03).

Who is "them"? this is a Chase offer, not an Amazon offer.

I received this card and completely forgot about it. In the middle of December I found the card and emailed Amazon. They misunderstood what I was saying and thought what I said the offer was, was a $20 credit for signing up for the credit card, not for Prime. They referred me to Chase.

I contacted Chase, and Chase said it was an Amazon offer, not a Chase offer.

I contacted Amazon again, and they provided me with a $20 promotional credit on my next purchase... long story short, I got Prime for $59 in December.

Now, I imagine they did this because I am a frequent customer on Amazon... not sure if they will do it for everyone, but may be worth a shot.... The offer page is still online, though it clearly says it expires on 11/15/12.

Hard to say whose offer it was. The promotional page was on the Amazon.com domain, not on Chase's. Even if Chase may have funded it, it was clearly done in cooperation with Amazon.
