you linked a PDF ...

do you have to keep the service? can I cancel it a year later, and do my own monitoring/control?

Without the service, the nexia hub is pretty limited. You can do your own control via another wave controller such as Vera or home seer. No monthly charge for the Vera service.

Note that the schlage camera has a custom firmware and will not work with another controller without reflashing (Google is your friend)

neat but would not consider converting an existing zwave installation onto another network just for trying out nexia (and probably be dissapointed). nice for those with hardware laying around w/o service, or those using the gateways already in 'free' mode.

I saw the SimpliKey at Costco last week for $149.

Personally, I'm waiting for my Lockitron to ship or I'd be all over these.

successfully able to sync with the dimmer module but its just not syncing with the lock.
I tries to use "-" and "+" both as said in the guide.

anyone else experience any trouble syncing with the lock?

I used the following seq.

1. unplug the power and etherner
2. battery powered
3. use plus sign
4. use prog code on the lock and wait for 3 beep and 3 blinks
5. press schlage button and then 0

Keep blinking and keep blinking and then red beep on the lock

The distance is between lock and the hub is they are side by side.
