How often do Frys have FAR items for sale?
Every week they put software on sale for Free. Sometimes they will have little things like laptop coolers and wipes for free as well.
How do I participate?
You will have to buy items from Frys.com that come up for sale as Free after Rebate.
Do I buy everything on sale?
No way, are you crazy? Only buy what you want, want to try out or give away/sell. Also make sure you can qualify to get it for free before purchasing.
When does the sales price go into effect?
The ad prices listed are generally for in store purchase price only. The price you see on the link will not always be the price you pay in the store. If you are buying online with delivery, the sale price may not be reflected on the site until 1-2am PST (pacific time zone). Items are sometimes available online for the same price as B&M and have free to very low shipping. Usually this will be software.
Many of these rebates require a competitive upgrade rebate to qualify, so how do I qualify?
If you do not own any previous software to qualify, you simply buy another FAR that is listed as a qualified competitors software. Frys will have multiple antivirus internet security software on sale at the same time. You simply buy for example Mcafee AV and they might ask for a competitors software proof. You go and buy Norton product that is FAR. Then you make a cd copy of norton and send it in with your Mcafee rebate to qualify. Then you do the reverse and send in the Mcafee CD copy to qualify for the Norton's competitors software proof.
The upgrade rebate asks for a copy of the previous software cd to qualify. What do I need to send in?
You simply need to make a photocopy of the CD with the top showing and send it in. lThey are not asking you to Burn a copy of the CD.
What is the difference between UPC and POP (proof of purchase)?
Many of the software boxes come with a UPC barcode found near the bottom of the box and a POP round seal found on a flap at the top of the box. See
example here.
I bought a FAR item earlier in the year, can I do this again?
Yes you can do the rebate again as long as the rebate number and date range is different. Make sure you have not done the same rebate by checking the rebate number and dates. Frys will have rebates period that lasts a month or more. If you saw it for sale on the first week and bought it and see it again near the end of the 4-5th week, you may forget that you did it already. Look at your previous submitted rebates to check to see if you have participated before purchasing the current one if the date range is long.
What do I do with all these FAR items?
Up to you. You can resell them on ebay/Craigslist or give them away to charity for tax benefit or to friends and family.
This seems way to much work for little reward.
You can stream line your rebating to make it fast and efficient. It only takes a little while to improve your process.
The rebates come as visa amex mastercard what do I do with these?
Pay your bills with them but before you do, rent redbox movies for free first. See my signature for codes.
What if the rebate doesn't come?
You need to follow the rebate directions carefully and if you did, you can contact Frys CS at 408-350-1484 or service@cs.frys.com and they will either send you a check or help get the rebate company to send you your rebate.
What tools are there to help make this process fast and efficient?
There are multiple ways to make it fast. Every person needs to find their own method but below are some tools to help.
Foxit PDF Reader <- Use Foxit PDF Reader to fill in your rebate form. That saves you time and no rejection from rebate processor saying they can't read your writing.
CutePDF pdf converter <- After you've filled out your rebate, you can now save that into pdf form for your record keeping. You can use this to save the ad page or frys website into pdf for proof of the sale price in case there's a problem down the line.
Frys Rebate Form Locator <- Frys will have their rebates searchable here. Very useful
Rebate tracking worksheet <- Use the spreadsheet I made to keep track of all your rebates and get PAID FOR ALL your rebates. Not the best or perfect but you get the idea. Edit it to fit your need.
Create a folder for all of the rebate forms, pdf of your filled out rebate forms that you send in and also a folder for all the scanned documents you have submitted. Also a folder to save the scan of all the checks and V/MC/Amex cards you get.
Lastly and most importantly, you need a scanner to make scans of everything you are sending in to the rebate house. I bought a HP All in one printer to scan everything I send in.I scan these: MIR form, Receipt, UPC/POP, envelop, competitor product printed out.
