Thread Details

Vitamix is promoting its 6300 model for $499.99 in their roadshow at Costco store

Also they are selling the 32oz dry container (univeral for all Vitamix models) for $98.99

The next cheaper price I can find for the 6300 is $579 and $125 for the dry container.

Because they are only available from the roadshow, you can use the linky here [vitamix.com] find the roadshow near you.

Although it looks identical to the pro 500 model from outside, the roadshow person told me this model uses the more powerful motor as in the pro 700. Also told by the rep is that the 5200 is estimated (based on daily use) to last 20 years and 6300 is estimated to last for 30 years....Just FYI

I wonder why Vitamix has almost doubled the cost of these blenders over the years. I purchased my Vitamix back in 2008 for only $300 and it is still going strong.

Inflation? Increasing cost maybe?

At costco? New? That's what I'm looking for right now, and I can't find it for that price.

Yes they are brand new. Please remember to use the link from my OP to find the store with roadshow near you. This model is only available from the roadshow.

At the one I frequent in Avon, MA, there are pallets full of the 5200 in the kitchen gadget section for $374.99. I don't remember if the dry jars were being sold in the stores.

My parents actually got theirs at Costco at the last road and someone threw away the box so I couldn't get a price reduction (they would only do a return/rebuy and not credit back with just a receipt). They are happy with Costco lifetime return policy so they let it go.

The dry container/jar is also a roadshow only item.

What is this roadshow you speak of?? I want one of these blenders, I dont know why really, but not spending that kind of cash on one. Probably just sit in cupboard next to all my other must-have items I need for no apparent reason. I will keep my alert going though. Eventually I shall find one in my desired price range...

Just in case anyone else uses this post for reference, the roadshow rep told me that the 6300 has the same internals as the 5200 - the only difference is the presets.

Vitamix 6300 is a bit pricey, but people who bought it said that it was worth the money.

It is true that the price varies and it is good idea to do some research..

When I watched the demo at Costco, I noticed the 6300 was substantially quieter than the 5200. I think the motors are different.

Today, I returned my 5200, and bought the 6300.... I was #%^!Q^ wrong about the quieter motor: Now that I've run both models in my kitchen, the 6300 seems louder than the 5200!

I did some googling, and found this link: http://joyofblending.com/which-vitamix-to-buy/ I wish I saw this post before bothering with the exchange:
The 6300 does not have the new motor. It has the classic motor, plus three presets (same as the Professional 500). Some of the salespeople at Costco selling the 6300 say that it has a better motor than the classic Vitamixes (5200 etc.), but I spoke with a Vitamix employee who said that there is no difference and that the salespeople at Costco are mistaken.
Hopefully Costco doesn't give me grief if I attempt to return the 6300 so I can go back to the 5200. I haven't really used the 6300 much just yet, but I have to admit: I don't think the 6300 is worth $100 more than the 5200--especially considering 99% of what we make are smoothies.
