FYI, I just got back from my local Walmart where I went in, grabbed the sale flier, and went to the CS desk. They wrote me a rain check.

They said only "one time" or "special" buys do not qualify for rain checks, so they wrote it with no problem (there were about 5 people "working" behind the counter).

They also told me that they had just marked down a bunch of LEGO on clearance, so I went to check it out.

They had a ton of LEGO items on clearance, YMMV of course.

I got 4441 for $17.00 and 7961 for $29.50.

Yay! I was able to get mine. In for one happy little boy at Christmas! Thanks for the heads up, my site to store auto adusted the price. It sucks that I have to wait several days to get my money back but still very worth it!

Scored 2 from a price match at Target. This morning I saw my local Target had 2 in stock. Got there and they were on the shelf. For a split second, I debated to grab just one, but ended getting both. Tried to price match with a print out, but no go. I told them to hold it. Drove to my nearest Walmart (~20mi) and grabbed a flyer...they only had the sales ad in Spanish. Should be good. Went back to Target to get it PM'd. Cashier called over someone who called someone else to see if a $90 Lego set can be lowered to $40. After a few anxious minutes, I was out the door with 2 sets of Lego for $39.97 each. Thanks OP and others who contributed to this thread!

I did see Ninjago but not 50% off. I think it was around 30-40% off. A few of the mid sized sets. (not sure which ones)

For some reason the Walmart website never shows my local store. It won't even locate it. It's been open for over 10 years.

Just took the add to Target and used my Target redcard and paid $40 for this set.

You need to go to your local Walmart and pick it up there. You cannot order online for instore pickup if there is non instock to order online.

Target price matched last night. They did have to have a supervisor come over since it was $40 cheaper than their price but I walked out of there with it.

See if you can get a rain check from Walmart. Some people were able to do that.

If it was a misprint, then Walmart probably would have corrected the error. Instead they changed the website price on their website to match the advertised sale price. The prices also continued to stay $39.97 in the store.
