Energy Take 5 Pack 5CH Home Theater Speaker System $150

Pulled the trigger on this last week at the same price. Added a $100 Polk 10" Sub. Looking for a $200 receiver to pair with them. Nice little $450-500 entry level upgrade from my soundbar/sub. Repped.

I have these paired with a Denon reciever and the matching subwoffer (note the sub does not come with these).

These are excellent if you want something better than the cheap "Home Theater In a Box" speakers but are doing it on a budget. I'd say you'd need to look in the $300 range to get speakers that are better. These are definitely the best in the lower-mid range market.

They are also small enough to be unobtrusive (about the size of a big-gulp cup) and look quite nice with a shiny black exterior.

Any particular recs on a budget sub/receiver?

As far as receivers go, that Yamaha is a great cheap entry 5.1 receiver. We have one right now and it works great and gives most people all of the features they need. Haven't heard these speakers though so I can't speak to their performance.

Even at that combined price, you sir are at the EXTREME low end of price/performance when it comes to even average home theaters. If that combo is too much for you, consider not worrying about a home theater/surround setup and just enjoy your TV.

what to use to hand these? The keyholes are non-standard =(

1 my exs home gonna buy again so i can have a true 7.2 setup with onkyos receivers at both homes now just need 2 decent 100 dollar sale 10 inch subs and im set

oh forgot to mention worth the 150 price but im gonna see if they drop to 99 on bf i think they did 2-3 years ago

I don't know if I'd say EXTREME low end price/performance. You can easily do much worse with a cheap HTIB like this:

Those speakers with a yamaha receiver is a few notches up above the crap on the market.

These speakers have received rave reviews across the board.

Sorry, been using logitech speakers since I was like six . And the boss speakers we have in our living room back in 2002 (5.1) which cost 5x as much as my z5500 IMO sounds worse than them.

For subwoofer, Polk Audio PSW10 for $100. Great reviews on cnet and amazon.
I ordered 1 on Amazon a few days ago when the price was $90 and I also bought the Energy speakers last week at $150. I am now waiting for a good deal on a receiver with Airplay.

I have large towers and thinking about picking these up. Im afraid they wont sound as nice as my primus speakers. Reason for picking these up, want to make my living room less clutter.

not saying anything bad about these speakers, but if you shouldn't base your reviews on cnet. cnet gets their money handed by companies they review to favor them. aside from that, they don't give really good reviews
