I am looking to set up a cheap system for small dance parties with my friends in my basement. Last time i hooked up my speaker set with the onkyo reciever to play loud music for some time, my receiever started overheating and started shutting down. Any ideas how can avoid overheating?

Amazing speakers. picked them up back in spring when they were this price and they're worth every penny. i even matched it with the matching ESW-C10 subwoofer that was 50% off at that time. i have it setup with a 10 year old onkyo receiver that pushes basic DD5.1 and it sounds amazing.
300 dollar speaker system that sounds like a 3000 dollar setup. edit: the amp for the woofer went out after two months, but Klipsch sent me a new one free of charge. a 10min swap of the board and i was back in business. |

hmm, seems like a good deal, but noted these have worse lower end frequency response (down to only 110hz) than the RC-Minis (80hz), and the Minis are actually slightly smaller. Speaking as an owner of RC-Micros (150hz, but probably half the size or less, why I bought them & accepted the compromise), this is a big deal. I bought the Micros because I needed the small physical size. If I could accommodate speakers twice as big, based upon what I know -- and I'd do more research to confirm it -- I think I'd get the Minis (or something else), not these, if you can find them even at a bit higher price (i think they have been?). As for these speakers, as you will see if you search they have been sold at this price many times, e.g. this one, and many more (and they usually get only like ~3 thumbs up when they do hit this price)
Given that, seems an odd choice as a FP deal to me, just a "business as usual" sale price for these competent, but no where near spectacular, speakers. Just food for thought.. Last edited by puddnhead; 10-24-2012 at 05:51 AM.. |

The speakers can handle the 14 gauges. |

Someone else asked what to use to mount the speakers, I used these - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...01_s03_i00 On the rear speakers. No complaints. I didn't mount the front and center as they are on the entertainment center. |
