reason for my even looking at this thread - our t1i also has been freezing or having longer lag times between certain shots, don't know if it's just showing age or something we need to take in to a store to get checked |

I suggest you buy this and sell your t1i for parts. likely any store you go to will tell you certain internal part needs replacing. while parts may or may not be expensive, labor will be a big chunks of the overall cost. |

I just sold a used t2i body + 18-55 kit lens for $550 on craigslist. Where are you getting t2i for $200? I'd buy multiples for family. Effectively, I just upgraded from a t2i to a t4i and got $25 in hand for doing that
Rule #1 - DO NOT CALL THE STORE.

Just jumped and bought one. Now I have 2 T3is to sell, 3 9000MkII's, and I don't even know how many lenses. I did the Amazon deal twice last year before xmas, thinking one for each me and the better half. Only needed one, never even opened mine, ad most of the lenses I got in both of those kts weren't great (like 5 extra lenses per, not including the bundled 185s), and I also jump on a couple of SDs for some much nicer lenses for the wife. Hopefully now that I am big time in the whole i will be motivated to sell all of this stuff :/.
BTW< if on the fence, if you are experienced with DSLR I think the T3i is great, but my wife isn't, and all of the buttons and knoobs on the T3i drove her nuts. This T4i with touchscreen interface will be much better I hope, she definitely knows how to use her android phone and iPad no problem! I see her poking the screen all the time on the T3i before remembering it is old school "just a display", now it will actually do something . Touch focus subject hopefully works well at least! ALso, for those saying that the focus is too slow, I read the same, but I also read that it is better than the T3i, and since we either MF or don't notice any issues we should be good. As far as focus in movie mode, the T3i couldn't even DO that, so not gonna complain if that is too slow, worst case if it screws up the vids will just turn it off. COnsidering it is Digic 5, hopefully Canon will be able to issue a firmware addressing the hunting or whatever is happening... I see it in EVERY review I read, so certainly they must be thinking about it. If I see a T5i with a Digic 5 and these issues fixed instead, boy will I be pissed .Last edited by Mike C; 10-21-2012 at 11:18 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost Regards,

t4i is a step backwards in sensor efficiency (dynamic range, noise), possibly b/c of addition of new af points on the sensor. (its more like half a step backwards). its a good deal, for a reason. t4i has better autofocus, with all off center points being cross type. the hybrid movie autofocus seems to not work well. its shoots a little faster than t3i, but honestly, canon will be suffering from lack of innovation, and getting their butt kicked in sensor technology by sony, which are used in Nikon cameras. this is the reason behind the never ending rebates.
good deal, just the same, if you are looking for a t4i |

I had to spend $1,000(after extended warranty at b&hphoto) on my T3i with lame kit lens when it first came out...And that's when I was getting a "deal" compared to it's prices elsewhere. It honestly astonishes me how cheap these deals on the Rebels have been lately. I see no reason for anyone to hesitate, and it's even a pretty nice upgrade from the 2ti. Even though I paid twice as much basically long ago for the t3i, I dont regret it at all |
