Hitachi drives have been my favorite for my raid setup. Even their 5900rpm drives perform very well - I wish I had a spare one I could run a benchmark on to show you guys...
Here's my raid 5e benchmarked at 256mb and 1gb test lengths - running on a dell perc 6i controller with 256mb ram, battery backup and writeback enabled. Also for comparison is a 3tb 7200 rpm seagate harddrive - it performs very well. I always give thumbs up to hitachi drives, even the slower rpm ones. They play well in raid, perform well and have great reliability.

It's a Hitachi 0F14696 4TB
Just poped one open and guess what, It's a Hitachi 0F14696 4TB. I don't know about you but I bought a WD so that I would get a WD. This thing is going back and I will try to find a 4TB that is a good brand not Hitachi!
