I have a 27" running at 1920x1080 as my primary monitor, and it sits about 3 feet away on my desk. It looks just fine. People claiming 1080 isn't enough need to chill. Does it look better at 1440? Yes. Worth whining over? Not at all. I actually run it at 1080 instead of 1440 because it makes screen cloning, etc easier on other monitors and my TV's. If you want to go spend quite a bit more on a monitor with a higher resolution, go ahead. For more practical people with no need for epeen contests about TN vs IPS panels (to which the majority of people out there wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between the two when given a side by side comparison) and 1080 vs 1440 etc...this monitor is probably just fine. If you are in the market for a monitor of this size, and this fits your budget, then get it. |

Don't try to be reasonable around here. It doesn't work. But you're right

1080 on a 32" HDTV is pretty commonly done. It looks fine to me on a 32", should be OK for most people on a 27". Heck, I'm writing this on a 46" Samsung TV in 1080p, that we use as a HTPC, and not my normal monitor. . My main monitor is a Vizio HDTV 32" 1080p LED backlight, and it's great.
A few years back there was a westinghouse 37" 1080p that was quite popular as a monitor in some of the gaming forums. I got one of them, and now my sister uses it as a monitor. I will say that a few years back I tried a Sony 32" HDTV in 1080 as a monitor, and it was really bad. Had fuzzy text. Turns out that with particular model you could not turn off the image processing, and it altered the text. My 32" Vizio is nice and crisp. Plenty of people use a 27" monitor for PC use in 1080p. Anyway, there might be some 27" brands and models that are not the best as a monitor.
I built up a PC for a client, and he used a 32" Vizio as a monitor. He complained about how bad it looked. Turned out he had no idea what "scaling options" meant, and he had it scaled so the complete image did not fill the screen. It processed and shrunk it down. It did look bad. 10 seconds later, I went into the AMD CCC and went right to scaling options and adjusted it perfectly. His response? " Wow, that's nice man" There are plenty of people who plug in a PC, set the resolution to 1080 and think they are done, but have no idea what scaling means. Ugh, sick and tired of people arguing about resolution.
Your opinion is yours, but it's stupid so shut up. I have this monitor and this is all you need to know. Goods For gaming, it's pretty awesome. I'm using a 7950, everything on "ultra"/"high" and it looks pretty good. The games I play: GW2, Assassin's Creed (playing thru them again), Dark Souls, Dishonored. Bads It's when I'm reading. The fonts are too small so when I zoom it up, you can see the pixels. Overall Reading sucks but you should be able to endure it, for gaming, it's a great value. Don't let these people tell you it sucks, it's not a bad deal at all. Coffee and Tea Connoisseur.

But still wanted to pay a reasonable price for a monitor that can be mainly used for gaming. Far as TN panels looking horrible compared to what you've listed, that's just your opinion. While I can admit that it doesn't look as sharp, it's good enough and therefore not enough to deter my personal use. |
