Interesting. I wonder why mine doesn't work. I've changed my native windows resolution to 720p because watching TV at 1080p wouldn't cut it. Maybe it can handle native 1080p but can't upscale 720p content to 1080 without skipping. That'd make some semblance of sense.

Have you tried using MaLa [malafe.net] instead of Hyperspin? Need to use command line Mame, though.

Have to resist. I had a system based on E-350 CPU and it was a total fail Could force it to pass-throu AC-3/DD/DTS sound to my receiver. It was always been converted to PCM. Tried different drivers, codecs, operating system - always got PCM on my receiver (bye-bye 7.1 channel audio)

I was disappointed by my E-350 system too. It can't play Netflix HD and it bottlenecks an SSD (I didn't even know this was possible).

Use DXVA Start by installing ffdshow tryout, which is free, and enable DXVA. Or use XBMC that has it by default.

proper graphics drivers. my c-50/c-60, an underclocked can handle all of those things just fine

my c-50 bitstreams just fine. i think a lot of times it's just user error. people not installing or configuring drivers or playback software properly.

I use this with an HDHomerun Prime and it works wonderfully.

For anyone considering this. This isn't going to be some sort of HTPC screamer.
I have (and owned) quite a few E-350 machines in various configurations (net-tops/laptops like Thinkpad X120e,etc).
This is however, going to be a good general purpose computer. It will play 720p video in Linux. With optimize video in Windows, it will probably play higher quality.

The thing it has going for it is USB 3, Gigabit and Wifi. Basically, you can make this into a great fileserver.
A Proxy/Wifi security gateway firewall like untangle. Or general dickering around with Linux distros.

The SSD is a added bonus. All you need is a laptop sodimm.

This will be a perfectly fine net-top.

If you don't want to play with Linux, get yourself a free Windows Server license in this thread.. (I did. I got 5 free legit license)
And run yourself a Windows Server off it.

See, that's the problem. It can do 1080p mkv and 1080p youtube, but there is absolutely no headroom. What this means is that, if there anything else that "pops up" in the background, you'll get a glitch. While that is acceptable for some, it's not acceptable to me or a number of other people.

Are the LEDs very bright on this? I have a lot of movies I like to watch in my bedroom with the lights turned off. I watch it for maybe about 5 minutes, and then usually fall asleep. But then I usually wake up wanting to watch more, again for another 5 minutes.

Also, I have over 1000 videos (each about a few hundred megs and in 720p, 1080p) on my external hard drive. Will this stutter while watching those movies? Will this be able to switch from movie to movie fast (in case one movie gets boring) or does it have to buffer and crap?
