I bought one a few months back and had to return it within a few hours of getting it. There's a major bug in the set-up process and Logitech support could not figure it out. They said that most of their revue products are suffering with the same problem.. I probably wasted 5 hours of my life over the entirety of a week on the phone with Logitech support only to end up shipping the entire box to them and waiting 3 months for them to mail me a refund check which I just got last week.
Even at $49, I'd pass and get a refurb Apple TV for $85... |

Don't waste your time folks.. I had one for nearly a year and just unplugged it and put it into storage with my Roku last week. My Mac Mini running Plex along with my Harmony Remote and Remote Buddy and some script-fu makes for an awesome setup.
The Harmony and the Revue don't play nicely together - ironic since they're both Logitech, right? They didn't share state info - so switching back and forth was painful. And it behaved particularly badly in Plex. The Revue wasn't all that great a year ago and is definitely showing its age now, things just keep slowly becoming incompatible with it. It coulda been a contender, but alas, here we are. BTW, if you do end up getting one, I would recommend avoiding setting it up in an HDMI pass-through fashion with your cable box. Put it on its own input instead. The Revue was causing problems that I thought were my DVR, but they were the Revue. I personally know 5 people (some with Time Warner, some with Comcast, some with AT&T UVerse) who had similar issues with the Revue. I was the last one of that group to keep using it. I know several months back when I purchased mine they were having issues with their servers so your box would lockup during the initial setup. A week later it was fine. And... At $85 for a refurb Apple TV, I'd buy two... one to sh*t on and one to cover it up with. F Apple.

i split time between two different houses. one house has my pc running xbmc to a projector. this pc also acts as a server and autodownloads content and then the plex server sees that there are new files and adds them. so when i am at the other house, all i have is the revue plugged in. using plex, i have access to everything. even in full hd, very nice.

i bought 4 of these during last holiday season, I would suggest getting a dell mini or some other tiny laptop and using a small logitech wireless keyboard/trackpad combo which will give you much much better processing power and ram.
The revue is good at this price no doubt but the glitchiness and just general lack of ability/power (freezes slow to load things even though i have top tier speed ISP) I just went to using an old d630 laptop laying around. It is 1000 times better . period -tech wisdom |

have one. its pretty terrible compared to an apple tv or a ps3.
slow, crashes often, media player sucks. there were a few "ok" things like games but not nearly good enough. apple tv has been a lot better for me. its only a matter of time before you get apps + hbo go. plus, if you're in the apple ecosystem, you can airplay your desktop/laptop/ipad/iphone to the apple tv and use it as a display. |

No issues here.. I am using my revue with a tivo series 3 and never had an issue. I like the fact that it does not take an extra hdmi port like other players would.
I use it mainly for netflix, slingbox and amazon prime. I use a harmony remote and it works good for the most part except for the amazon prime which is pretty much displayed like a webpage so it is easier to use the touchpad and the keyboard. The one thing I don't like about it is its power consumption which is 18w if i remember correctly compared to the roku which is 2w. I solved that by using the belkin smart strip which turns the revue only when the tv is on.

I attached my Roku with this box (via HDMI in) and mapped Roku's remote to Logitech's keyboard and now I can control my TV/Roku/Logitech box with one keyboard and picture in picture features works pretty well where I can just hang my Roku's video output on top at right hand side and surf the internet if I want to check something. Also in built chrome broswer works on the flash sites I tried. No force crashes/reboots till now. Only downside right now is that it has been discontinued and updates on this product might not work. Also as far as I know its not rootable where you can try to install Custom images. Based on this I would recommend looking for a new supported product like from Sony/Vizio. Vizio co-star is $99 and may be during holiday season you might find some deals on this. I know reviews are bad on Vizio but if they are actively working on fixing these then it might improve down the line. If you are not convinced with Vizio co-star then I would say you can definitely try Logitech but you will be on your own to support this. |
