Sorry. I guess I wasn't more clear in my initial post. I'm wanting to watch video files (full movies ripped from DVDs) or video websites like Hulu, cbs.com, etc.

you should be able to do all these from your blu ray and if you want to view these files outside of your house thru the tablet you can get app called emit and you can watch your movies saved on your pc.

samsung blu rays are good for streaming downloaded movies from your desktop also look into plex media (mostly on LG devices) this gives you movie posters and synopsis automatically as long as the movie name is the same as your file name.

I'm struggling between the samsung galaxy 7" and the kindle fire to get for my girlfriend. the galaxy seems like the superior device to me, but I have an amazon prime account. does amazon prime offer enough benefit on the fire to justify me going in that direction?

I am also looking for advice on which tablet to buy. I will be using it basically to surf - not much for videos or gaming. I am hoping to use in somewhat in place of my dinosaur computer. I've got it narrowed to iPad 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab, And ASUS Transformer. I have an android phone, so am leaning towards an android system. Someone please make up my mind for me!! I'm not so much worried about the cost - of course, cheaper would be better, but I don't want price to cloud my decision. Thanks1

Was really hoping for some deals on WIndows 8 tablets this BF. Looks like I'm SOL.

No, I have not eliminated the Nexus, but forgot to put it down. I am making myself crazy looking at all the reviews everywhere - everyone has a different idea. I am leaning towards the Galaxy Tab, but don't know if the Nexus 10 would be better - the reviews are scattered on it.

Everything you can do on the Kindle, you can do on the Galaxy. There is an Amazon movie app, Kindle app, etc.

I guess it depends on which Kindle you are talking about. For me, the fact that the Galaxy does not have HDMI is a deal breaker. Kindle Fire HD has one and can be had for $174 today.

I'm still debating whether to get KF HD or if I should just stick to my original plan and get a cheapo one, but after my experiment with the $69 Trio from Sears didn't go very well, I'm not so sure anymore...

I'll probably just sit back and wait a little more and see what happens after BF.
