I am pretty sure this is not price mistake. I have experienced it so many times. This is just another Lenovo marketing strategy. Lenovo did it again and again so many times. Many customers thought it was price mistake previous incidents. It happened every single month. If you upgrade the graphic card, it would be really more expensive. They just created it that way. On the other hand, if you buy other T430s (other version) laptop with graphic card, it would be cheaper.
I dont know about that specific model, but i5s with 320hdds and 4gb ram with low res screens are typically on sale in the 450-500 range.
For sure this is not the standard price for a thinkpad, much less their t430s model. Sure you may be able to pick a refurb or scratch and dent up from their outlet but certainly not a new one, and not anyway around $600 after tax.
Price is pretty good, but I'm a bit ticked off that they charge for things like Bluetooth ($30) and a multi-card reader ($10). Seriously... even upgrade to backlit keyboard is $40. Not exactly chump change. That should be all standard.
Oh ya, shipping is friggin slow... Nov 4th... to ship out (not to receive it).
It's like a granny hauling a fridge upstairs kind of slow.
I noticed the ultrabay add-on battery is around $120.
eBay has some "oem-compatible" ones for around $40.
Any reason to go with the Lenovo one?
It repro's for me. My total came out a fair bit higher adding the screen and bluetooth (how can you sell a laptop without bluetooth in 2012?). My total is $596.
For that price, I feel like I'm probably better off getting a discounted ultrabook for slightly more. YMMV depending on your preferences, but SSD + even smaller/lighter would be worth the extra $100-150 on a good deal, given that this got priced out of "ultra budget" territory.
TU for OP for a good find, it will make some folks happy.
Good deal on a "s" model T series not from the Lenovo Outlet. They're probably liquidating inventory before the launch of the T430u. I actually prefer them with on board graphics only for day to day use, battery life is more valuable to me and the switchable (Optimus) never seem to work correctly for me. If I didn't have a bunch of Thinkpads already I'd get it. Good price for a T series either way, thanks for sharing.
