Bose Cinemat S2 Vs......?

I have the Bose 321 GS 2.1 system (precursor to the current Cinemate series and Lifestyle 235) and enjoy the sound of it. However, I will say that I do not recommend anyone buying a stand-alone Bose speaker system. The only time I've found Bose to sound good is when it is a complete system (ie Lifestyle or the older 321 systems) this is because there is huge equalization to make the speakers sound good. Also they are extremely overpriced. I purchased mine off ebay for about $500, as opposed to MSRP of $1000+.

If you are using these for majority home theater listening only, I would recommend some of the Polk Audio soundbar systems. A friend has the 6000 series system and it sounds very good. If you are willing to step up in price, you can't beat the yamaha soundbar systems for what everyone states is the best "pseudo-surround" effect from a soundbar system. If you can find an older Bose 321 system or one of their lifestyle systems for real cheap, I would also recommend that.

I would never buy a stand alone bose speaker system. Do not think that if you go into a Bose store, listen to the lifestyle systems on display, and then decide to pick up the separate speaker only system thinking it'll sound the same when hooked up to your system. It won't.
