those unique ones may yet to expire but with the wrong date on the coupon, an ahole manager or sales rep could refuse to scan
So true. The employees at my closest stores have been trained to refuse to scan any coupon whose date is expired no matter what you say or how much you beg. I know because I asked several times in the past until the manager told me never to ask again or he'd get upset, so he's definitely one of those aholes you refer to.
I printed several of the unique 20% off coupon which have both 10/29/12 and 11/30/12 dates on them as Staples changed it midstream as I was printing and didn't notice. I guess I might as well throw out my 10/29/12 coupons, but I guess I can still use the 11/30/12 coupons up through 11/17/12 unless Staples decides to expire them earlier.
What I'd love to be able to put a bet on is that while my store refuses to scan still functioning coupons that say they have expired, I bet in the reverse scenario where Staples expired a coupon before the printed expiration date that they would also tell me tough toenails. Since they go by what the coupon says over what the computer system says, if they weren't hypocrites they should allow you to use the 20% 11/30/12 coupons through that date in spite of what the computer system says, but in that case I'd virtually guarantee they'd accuse me of altering the coupon rather than put the blame on Staples for stealthfully changing the expiration dates.
