- The Upgrade Assistant chooses on its own based on existing software (you can download again for the version you want, see next). If you want to upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit, you can also buy Windows 8 as a DVD or use a disc from the retail boxed version.
- The Windows 8 key you get from the Upgrade Assistant will also work with a disc from the retail boxed version. The retail boxed version comes with two discs, so you can choose which version to install.
