Windows 8 14.99 upgrade available today(must have purchased windows 7 pc)

This thread reminded me to check out my campus MSDNAA account. It has Windows 8 Pro on there with keys for free. Just a reminder to those with access!

1. Buy a Win7 on sale
2. Get Win8 on it
3. ?
4. Profit

What is the feedback on Windows 8? Is it worth the upgrade from 7 to 8? Or is it like XP to Vista?

This isnt a deal, it is fraud if you do not meet the requirements for the discount.

I don't know if this should be frontpaged or not. Do you guys think MS will care about a SD flood with 1000s of customers paying for the $15 upgrade....on second thought I know they want it everywhere. The more hands the better. I'd rather make a little than make nothing at all on pirates, plus this post pc world war....how microsoft plays this generation is going to be be critical for the future of consumer computing. thoughts?

So do you need a Windows 7 key or not?

I'm still trying to determine if the key/iso is keyed to the PC you ran the upgrade assistant on, or if it's installable anywhere. Anyone install and activate successfully on a different PC than the one they went through the ordering/download process on?

You definitely need a copy of 7. I am still setting up to see if this will work on my custom unit. Should work fine on the laptop I purchased from the Shack some time ago. Anybody upgraded yet, mind sharing their experience?

It doesn't ask for one at any point in the process but you have to run the "upgrade assistant" to go through with the purchase. I'm guessing that at least checks that you have Windows 7 installed.

From the way these guys are phrasing it, it doesn't sound like you need a copy. With the speak of fraud and all.
